Hi all, I've been having questions about strings, references, initializations... I've created code (which will not compile due to a reference problem) and I'd like comments on why this won't work and any other comment to the code with efficiency in mind. #include <iostream> #include <string>

I'm trying to use the DrawText() method to draw some very long string text on the Panel with AutoScroll enabled. However, for some unknown reasons, I could not trigger the ScrollBar to show up. Here is the simplicied section of drawing code: private void panel_Paint(object sender, System.Windows.Forms.PaintEventArgs e) { panel.AutoScroll = true;

Does anyone know how to make common database connections "common" in all aspx files? In other words, instead of creating a SQLConnection, then a DataAdapter in every ASPX file for my application, I would like to "include" them, or "import", say an ascx file. In ASP, all you needed to to was include another .asp file to do this. Many thanks, Chad

This will be my very first VB.Net application and it's pretty simple. But I've got a snag in my syntax somewhere. Was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction. The history: My work involves creating custom packages of our software product for golf courses that purchase our software. The course data is kept as a back up in the event the course needs us to replace their custom files. Each course has a folder of it's own...

Ok, I inherited some code written in vb that is part of a web application. My overall objective is to be able to take multiple names from a "LastName" text box and use those names in my SQL query against my database. Currently the way it is coded, the text box will pass one name only to the next page, which then gets formed into the SQL query. I will provide some examples of the code that is used to perform this task... Ok, when you...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
