have a client trying to send scanned images thru email. He is using
RoadRunner with a 10 mb limit for an email. On Friday, I was sent a 5 mb
attachment that did come thru, but it took 30 seconds for the message to
leave the clients mail box. I did think this was a bit of a long time, but
suggested that he send each item in it's own email only after the last one
had cleared his out box. He stated that he would do this, but on Monday we
had several messages stuck in his out box. After deleting the messages, he
is not able to send any message larger than an average of like 20 kb.
Here are some other details.
Using Exchange Server for internal email and shared calendar. RR
account is set for the default.
* Removed Exchange Server from his profile. Same Results
Using Trend Micro Antivirus on the Server and Workstations
* Turned off Trend both at the workstation and at the server Same
Results.
Went to another computer and tried to send the same attachment,
* Sat in the outbox for 3+ min. Then we deleted it. Seems to
indicate that it is not local to his computer, but in the network.
The file being attached was on the server, so made the file local to
his computer
* same results.
I am at a loss as to where to turn next. We are using a cisco firewall, but
there is not a limit to set for mail. What else should I look at? Any help
would be welcome

I think it totally depends on his SMTP server. What server does he have
configured for this? I would find out, and then give the service provider a
call...
Also 30 secs for a 5 MB attachment sounds ok, since the attachment has to be
UUEncoded (or MIME64 or whatever) into the email message, there is actually
more than 5 MB being uploaded as part of the email. (Maybe something closer
to 6 MB or 5.75 MB).
As a last resort, he could set up your own SMPT (receiving) server as his
SMPT server when sending you emails, but ISPs have lots of restrictions
these days, and one of the most popular ones is to deny access to any
external SMTP server other than the ISP's own.
Sorry, can't type... SMPT = SMTP
he is using the roadrunner smtp server, and a quick call to them told us that
he does have a 10 mb limit. Thought the next step was to see if we could
send it thru the web interface, and also setup another smtp with unlimited.
Will try this in the am.
Thank you for your quick reply

I have written a script to send an email to a large list of emails, it
works fine except for one slightly major thing. Each email needs to have
the receipient's email address at the bottom of the message for removal
purposes. This requires crafting a seperate email for each person. And
therefore I must send an individual email for each person. The problem
is rate. I need to know how I can rate limit the outgoing messages,
and/or make my...

Looking at the email package, it seems all the MIMExxx classes takes
string but not file object as the payload. I need to handle very large
MIME messages say up to 100M. And possibly many of them. Is email
package sufficient. If not is it possible to extend it?
Looking at a previous thread it seems the standard library is not
sufficient.

hi,
fist the context: I have a web server which query a mySql database. but
as the number of parralel queries increase, the server slows down too
much.
I got 2 ideas, one of which is to run N deamons which effectively
execute requests. the PHP uses message queuing(1) to queue queries
request to the daemons. but the answer may be quite large, larger than
messages the message queueing service can handle.

I'm having troubles with a script that uses the get_payload function.
My script just works perfectly if I use it with attachment up to 8 Mb.
If the attachment are more than 8 Mb large, the script exits with a
TypeError exception.
IMHO when get_payload try to convert the attachment in a single string
it occours in some size limit.
How can I fix it?
I'm using python-2.3.3 on a SuSE 9.1 distro

Hi,
I'm moving a database from 7.0.2 to 7.3.3. The db contains several thousand
large objects that I need to export.
To do this I've managed to modify the contrib/pg_dumplo utility from 7.3.3 so
that it works with 7.0.2, but I need to confirm a few things before I can be
confident that I can proceed.
When I run the modified pg_dumplo in 'show only' mode it reports about 8500

Hi all,
a few days ago, I upgraded from PostgreSQL 7.2.1 to 7.4, following
the instructions in the INSTALL file, including dump and restore.
All this worked fine without any error (message).
Since then, I found lots of the following in the postmaster output:
2003-11-29 15:19:54 ERROR: large object 4838779 does not exist
2003-11-29 15:20:11 ERROR: large object 4838779 does not exist

Hi,
sorry for reposting, but it seems my message just hit nothing
but air. If I posted to the wrong list or did something else
wrong with the message, please let me know.
I really want to know what's going on but still found nothing.
I do not know when and where the statements are produced that
lead to the error messages. It seems they were generated by
postgres internally but I cannot see when and why. How can

I need to design a solution that will be handling high volume (1-2 per
second) and fairly large (80-100K) messages. I am concerned about wheter WCF
messages end up on program call stacks. Should I have any concerns about
this? Does my choice of transport make a difference? For instance, MSMQ seems
well suited for asynchronous large messaging.
Thanks for any thoughts.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
