QuickWatch generic types

Hello NG,

i use the VS 2005 TeamSystem Edition. When i try to watch the data on
properties from a generic type with quickWatch there is no data shown.
Instead there is something like :
The generic type 'MyType`2' was used with the wrong number of generic
arguments

Have anyone a idear whats going wrong ?

Thanks

Maik

Cracow, 20.10.2004 Hello, As far as I understand, the generic programming basically consists in using templates for achieving a static polymorphism of the various code fragments, and their reuse for various template parameters. I wonder if there exist techniques for achieving a dynamic polymorphism using the generic programming. Is this possible? If yes, can anyone show me simple examples in C++

What follows is a discussion of my experience with .NET generics & the ..NET framework (as implemented in the Visual Studio 2005 Beta 1), which leads to questions as to why certain things are the way they are. ***** Summary & Questions ***** In a nutshell, the current .NET generics & .NET framework make it sometimes difficult or even impossible to write truly generic code. For example, it seems to be impossible to write a truly generic

I don't understand the third paragraph under the heading 'Generic type instantiations' on <http://msdn.microsoft.com/vcsharp/2005/overview/language/generics/>: | The .NET Common Language Runtime creates a specialized copy of the | native code for each generic type instantiation with a value type, | but shares a single copy of the native code for all reference | types (since, at the native code level, references are just | pointers with...

Hi, I have a wrapper around some 3rd party database library function. The pseudo code looks like the following - it is meant to open a table in a database, extract values from a table, then copy it into my own user defined structures. Since the process of opening and retrieving data from the database is exactly the same for all struct types, and the only part that's different is how the data is copied into the diff structs, I was...

I want to define a class that has a generic parameter that is itself a generic class. For example, if I have a generic IQueue<Tinterface, and class A wants to make use of a generic class that implements IQueue<Tfor all types T (so it can make use of queues of various object types internally). As useful as this is, it doesn't seem possible. The natural (but illegal) notation would be something like class A<QueueClasswhere QueueClass :...

Hello, I would like to write a function that reads a sequence of unsigned shorts from /any/ container, converts them to pairs of unsigned chars, and writes them to /any/ container. In other words, something like this: That code works with the test driver provided. However, it /also/ compiles and executes if the input container holds something other than unsigned short or if the output container takes something other than

Here is a good example that shows generic delegate types. Read this through and you'll have an excellent understanding of how to use these types. You might say that the combination of the generic delegate type expression in just the right place and a well-named method means we can almost read the code out loud and understand it without even thinking. Note that since 'boxing' and 'unboxing' is involved (I think), you don't get what you...

I am trying to use reflection in a property of a base type to inspect the properties of an instance of a type which is derived from that base type, when the properties can themselves be instances of types derived from that base type, or arrays or generic collections of instances of types derived from that base type. All is well until I come to the properties which are generic collections, I don't seem to be able to find an elegant way of...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
