I cannot make this VB6 code to work in VB.NET.
Dim buffer As String
Dim tmp_i As Long
Open FileName For Binary Access Read As #1
buffer = Input(FileLen(F ileName), #1)
tmp_i = FileLen(FileNam e)
Close #1
I tried this :
Dim buffer As String
Dim tmp_i As integer
Dim idF As Integer = FreeFile()
FileOpen(idF, FileName, OpenMode.Binary , OpenAccess.Read )
Input(idF, buffer)
tmp_i = FileLen(FileNam e)
FileClose(idF)
but it doesn't read the file to the end...the resulting buffer lenght in VB6
is different
How can I read a binary file into a string type buffer ?

I have IIS installed on XP Professional workstation machine. I have an ASP
page that open connection to an Access database, then when trying to update
the database, it gave me the error "cannot update database or object is
read-only". This is a workstation machine, not connected to any other
computer, and I login to the PC using an administrator account. I already

Hi I am using
ms acces 2002 to read an xml file.
I am using the DOM object in ms access - version xml 4 with service pack 2.
here is the start of the code below. But I am having trouble reading in the
xml file. It seems to be well formed and I was even able to read an earlier
version of the file. This file is a result of being zipped. Could that be
the case? Maybe some invisible chars causing the problem.

to FTP to it and delete it, rename it, copy over it and I get the error.
