Problem Compiling Sample DirectX Project

HI, I hope you all can help me, or at least point me in the right
direction. I am not a programmer, I am just trying to help some
students in a programming class with this issue, I am the lab assistant
for their college and they are saying it's a program installation issue
whereas I am thinking it's a programming issue.

I've done an install of .NET 2003 with the October 2005 Directx SDK.
We have a sample project that we are trying to run but we come up with
several issues with it. First off I get errors telling me that it
cannot open files, so I do a search for the file and then add it to the
prject directories list in the corresponding area, aka lib etc.

Once I have finished with all of that, I get an error with DXUT
requiring a unicode build, so I got into the solution explorer,
properties, configuration properties, general, and then change the
character set to unicode.

I then rebuild the project and come up with these errors from the task
list.

I deleted a lot of these errors, if you need a full list, let me know
and I will email them to you there were 246 of them total. I am
thinking that there needs to be something defined or included to allow
for the conversion process to take place from the multi-btye code to
the unicode, but I have no idea as to whats needed.
