Problem while reading from excel

hi,

I'm reading an excel sheet which contains more than 500 chars in a single
column using OledbDataReader . But while reading value using
dr[0].toString(), its taking only 255 chars. It removed the remaining chars.
How to solve this problem?

thanks in advance.
regards,
Gomathi

Hi all, I have a little program that uses OleDb to open and read an Excel spreadsheet from VB.NET. The problem I'm running into is it's not reading the column headers... The Excel worksheet looks has the following columns: Data Description / Source / 1990 / 1991 / 1992 / etc. It's set up as a pivot-table (at least I think so... not too familiar with Excel Pivot Tables), based on the first two columns. Anyway, when I run the

I've just discovered a bug in some code I wrote a little while ago, and I need you guys' help to fix it. My program imports data from a standard Excel Spreadsheet (just with specific column headers). I used ODBC in my VB.NET program to read that spreadsheet into a dataset, to make it easy to manipulate. The code I use to read it is as the bottom of this posting.

The problem is, if I give the date as mm/dd/yyyy format it accepts, but when I give the date in dd/mm/yyyy format, upto 8 rows of data it is reporting the date as invalid. After 8th row even if the date is there (dd/mm/yyyy format), it is...

Hello, I work on an app developped with Access/VBA and communicating with a SQL Server database via ODBC. My problem is that I have to manage a big string which can be 0 to 1024 characters long. The string is correctly stored in the Access and SQL Server tables (Memo field for Access, and varchar(1024) for SQL Server).

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
