Hi,
We're developing a .NET application in C# and are considering the area of
operating system support. What are the guidelines on this for .NET
applications? Presume we don't need to support anything pre Windows 2000? Any
tips/links would be great.

AFAIK .NET supports everything that came out after Win95 (98, ME, 2000,
XP, 2003...)

However Win98, ME and NT4/Sp6 not complete.

Hello. I recently came across a free operating system called Unununium (or
something like that) and it was developed in Python and Assembly.
Now, I have been looking for a way to make an operating system for a long
long time and the only possibilities I could find were C++ and assembly. I
don't mind assembly so much if I don't have to use it very often. But C++ is
so complicated and errors are pretty much impossible to find in the code...

In typically windows environments I have used:
if 'Windows' in os.environ...
to prove it, but now I need to properly support different environments.
To do so I must accurately determine what system the python instance is
running on (linux, win, mac, etc).
Is there a best practises way to do this?

I heard from a friend that Microsoft will no longer support XP.
There is a sign-up page for those people who still use it and would like MS
to continue supporting it.
I don't know if this is proper for me to do this on this board, however, I
