Windows Forms framework

Greetings,

I was wondering if there is a framework in .NET world similar to what
Eclipse is in a Java world. Could "Composite UI Application Block" be
compared to Eclipse?

Thanks.

I was creating test projects using c# and was surprised that there seems to be only a form based windows applications available. Is it safe to assume that classic window applications that utilize a parent window with child windows can only be done in c++ and mfc and there's nothing else in .net that is meant to be used like that? It seems to be that c# should be used for either form based windows apps, console apps, and web apps (also...

I'm embarking on a project that will have both a desktop application and a Pocket PC application. It seems logical to have as much code as possible sitting in a shared project, which would be referenced and utilized by both the Windows Forms application and the Mobile Device application. Are there any "gotchas" (ie. warnings) that anyone knows about in following this approach? Robert W. Vancouver, BC

Hi All, I tried creating a C# Form using Petzold's "Programming MS Windows with C#" guidance. He recommended using the namespace System.Windows.Forms. However, VS.NET claims "the type or namespace name 'Windows' does not exist in the class or namespace 'System'." But I read it, MSDN seems to think it's fine at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/cpref/html/frlrfsystemwindowsformsformclasstopic.asp.

A quick scan of the group did not immediately reveal an answer to my questions so here goes. First let me describe my app and then I'll ask the questions. I am writing a Windows Forms App (not Web Forms) that serves as a thin client to some web services. In other words, the Windows Forms app will be installed on the client machines and that app will call web services that are deployed on my server.

What would be a good way to check programmatically whether a service was running? We have a service that dies periodically and I need to check to see if this service is running. I know how to check to see if the status is in stopped or running mode. But that doesn't tell me if it is actually running. I need to know this so that if it happens I can programmatically start the same service on another machine.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
