Adding new class

Hi, all

I'm writing my first project under VS8 in MC++.

I would like to create some helper class, which will provide
communication with the
SQL Server through ADO.NET. I'm thinking of reusing it in some other
projects. So I go Add -> Class, select C++, and then I'm having the
problem picking the base class. I thought, that I always can select
Object (System.Object) , but when I click Finish, I'm getting the
message "Base class 'Object' not found in the project. Continue
adding the class?"

So what is my option(s),
thanks in advance,
Alex

Hi All, Sorry if this is off topic, but I could not seem to find a suitable OO Design newsgroup. If there is one feel free to let me know. Here is a simplification of a general design problem I face. Say you have: class Car { virtual void speedup();

the requirement is : Create a class called Rational (rational.h) for performing arithmetic with fractions. Write a program to test your class. Use Integer variables to represent the private data of the class – the numerator and the denominator. Provide a constructor that enables an object of this class to be initialized when it is declared. The constructor should contain default values in case no initializers are provided and should...

Is there any way to add an embedded resource to a project without copying it to the project's directory? I have shared resources and don't want each project using the images, xml files, etc. to need to be updated with the current copy before being built. I also don't want projects being built with the old copy. Thanks! Bill

Trying to figure out the technique which should be used to add rows to a datagrid. I am thinking that I would want an "Add" button on the footer, but I am not quite sure how to do that. Is that the best method? Do you have a sample of how to do this?

Hi all, I have written a small ProperCase function which I would like to make available to our team at work through our common class library. A colleague mentioned that I could write a new class which derived from the String class, add the function there and then we would all use the new class which contained my function and all of the others etc....sounded relatively straight forward...

I'm wriiting an MFC C++ application which uses a third party C# .NET API via a DLL. The app runs fine. If I add a new, empty C++ class, and compile/link it refuses to run, complaining about not being able to load an assembly. Removing the class from the project and doing a rebuild all gets it working again. Its as though I've hit a threshold? Any ideas? - I'm using Visual Studio 2005 - Although my code is MFC native C++, the third...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
