PrincipalPermis sion.Demand() always fail even user is authenticated?? ?

Hi,

I have problem with below code:

WindowsPrincipa l principal ;

principal = new WindowsPrincipa l(WindowsIdenti ty.GetCurrent() );

WindowsIdentity identity = (WindowsIdentit y) principal.Ident ity;
PrincipalPermis sion permission = new PrincipalPermis sion(identity.N ame,
null, identity.IsAuth enticated );

try
{

permission.Dema nd();

}
catch(System.Se curity.Security Exception ex)
{
System.Windows. Forms.MessageBo x.Show(ex.Messa ge);
return;
}

permission.Dema nd() always throws exception since
identity.isAuth enticated returns true, however, if using the below
code,

PrincipalPermis sion permission = new PrincipalPermis sion(identity.N ame,
null, false );

then it passes the validation, I am really confused,
any one could help please???

I thought the last parameter is just extra check whether current user
is authenticated or not, if we set it to false, then it ignores it.
Maybe I misunderstand it.

Thanks in advance

zhuang

I've tried to use "satisfy any/all" in .htaccess file. AuthName "Me Only" AuthType Basic

I am looking to implement impersonation in an ASP application I am writing and am using the MS article Q306158 as a reference. This article refers to "the IIS Authenticated Account or User". Can anyone tell me where I can find out more about this account? - the permissions it has - what group if any it belongs to - the user name of the account - etc. Cheers,

The 2nd parameter of the method controls whether a persistent cookie is created - so that ASP.NET can "know" if the current user has been previously authenticated (during previous browser sessions). My question: How can code I write elsewhere in the application retrieve that cookie - or otherwise "know" if the current user has been authenticated? My intent is to have some pages in the application that do not require authentication in...

Please note that the web method has a custom SOAP header....

Hi, I've come from Forms to web pages. (OH DEAR you say) I'm using VS2003. When I drag a table from Server explorer onto the web form to create a DataAdapter & Connection, all ok, but when I try to access that data programmatically, I get: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user 'mycomputer\ASPNET'.

I am writing a new application which uses Forms Authentication, and has been seperated into layers (UI, Logic, Data Access). Right now all the layers are self contained in my application...which may be broken out at a later date. Also these layers have a seperate namespace as well such as BusinessLogicLayer, DataAccessLayer, etc... On my methods within the Business Logic and Data Access, I am wanting to use the Principal Permission...

Hi On a machine called 'machineName', a user called userName is a member of the ora_dba group. I can see this in computer management. Why then does the below throw an exception? AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetPrincipalPolicy(PrincipalPolicy.WindowsPrincipal); PrincipalPermission p = new PrincipalPermission("\\machineName \userName", @"machineName\ora_dba", true);

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
