How to Specify User Credentials in Config File

..Net 2.0
---------
Assume I am on a non-domain network. The proxy asks me to authenticate
whenever I want to access the net.

I have an app, through which I wish to access web sites using HttpWebRequest.

Now in the config file snippet below:
<system.net>
<defaultProxy useDefaultCrede ntials="false">
<proxy proxyaddress="h ttp://proxy:80" bypassonlocal=" True"
usesystemdefaul t="False"/>
</defaultProxy>
</system.net>

.... useDefaultCrede ntials="false".

How do I specify credentials from the config file? I cannot hard-code this
since I have users on domain machines that don't need this extra-data and
logic.1

Thanks

Hi, I have difficulties about authentication & authorization thing. My project has an admin folder (which can only be accessed by administrator) and a secret folder - (can be accessed by registered users). Is it possible to store credentials in two different places and using only one login page? (the administrator credentials in web.config file while the registered users credentials are stored in the database).

Is there any other solution for an ASPNET application to access network resources other than running as SYSTEM, using delegation (a nightmare to get to work) or the COM+ solution? I cannot seem to impersonate a user and obtain network credentials using the DuplicateTokenEx call with appropriate parameters even though the call seems to not fail. I check my identity has changed but can only still do local commands. I would consider...

I'm working on a web based user interface for a job scheduling system (running scripts). The system is using a non-windows scheduler software, but it's installed and running as a windows service. The service is running with the credentials of a specified domain user, and all processes kicked off by the scheduler service runs with these credentials. In the web based interface I want to add a "Run" button for each job, making it...

Hi What is the recommended way to store a user's database credentials across the pages of a web application so that each time the database is accessed the system doesn't have to ask them for their username and password again We have previously stored these in a session variable (encrypted) and retrieved from their - but are worried about the impact on performance if the number of users increases. Had thought about cookies but worried...

I noticed the following issue posted as a double-hop issue in many discussion boards but found no answers that explain how to pass the second hop with windows auth from IIS ASPX page to remote SQL Server. Problem: -------------- I am trying to create an asp.net website with integrated windows authentication to access SQL databases. IIS resides on WinXP and SQL Server on Win2000 SRV. Both are in the same NT Domain. IIS and SQL Server...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
