Hi,
I'm trying to create a simple stack class using C++ and templates.
Everything works well and good if I amke the class totally inline.
However, as soon as I try to seperate the class into a .h and a .cpp
file, gcc throws some strange linking errors.
Compiling like this:

Helpful folks,
I've just migrated our test server from V7.2 -FP11 to V8.1.3, on WinNT 4.0.
Everything went pretty darn smoothly, however I get the following errors
when using the Control Center:
Click on the 'Event Monitor' folder, and an error dialog box
appears containing the following text:

I have a program I am trying to compile into a dll and am getting a bunch
of: the following errors:
error BC30469: Reference to a non-shared member requires an object
reference.
At first, I thought it was because I had the sub set as shared, but I get
the same error if it take the Shared out.
What is causing these errors?

I thought I would pass this on, as I have oft' seen this problem reported,
with no solution.
The problem is that in a solution containing several projects, the compiler
will sometimes report a selection of errors that are quite false. For
example, on one build the error "... cannot handle event because they do not
have the same signature" might be reported. Build again and the problem goes
away. Change something unrelated and the problem...

I'm trying to compile an open source game called IVAN
, and I'm able to compile it from a makefile, but
not from an IDE. I have attempted to recreate the way the makefile
compiles the project as closely as possible, yet I'm getting odd
linking errors. I think I've traced it to some kind of problem with
the SDL libraries it uses, yet I can't explain why it will compile from
the makefile and not from the IDE. I have made sure that the ide...

I only want to catch 404 errors at the application level (the rest are will
be handled by the customerrors section of the web.config). How do I check
for the error code in the
Application_Error of Global.asax ?
Thanks,

Hi ive been trying to pass an ofstream to an object i'm creating. But it keeps bringing up errors.
I know that you need to pass it's reference rather than the object but it has problems when trying to build the constructor.
class OutputIterator
{
private:
int fIndex;
std::ofstream& fileOut;

I'm having a lot of trouble with "file in use" errors in my "folder watcher"
project. Starting and stopping the watcher and reading my XML file work
fine. Once the watcher is started, I'm reading the text files from the
watched folder line by line into variables and then posting them to a SQL
table.
All of the code for the form is shown below. And it works fine except for 2
issues.
First issue: In the Finally of the Try for teh SQL...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
