PHP puts most of its functions into a big flat global namespace.
That leads to short function names - but creates a namespace
minefield for programmers.
Lots of the functions are legacies from the days before PHP
got object-oriented features.
For instance we currently have:

If I include both of these headers in a c++ source file:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <cstdio>
would I then be able to do both of:
std::printf("Hello, world!\n");
printf("Hello, world!\n");

Hi Folks,
I am coming up to speed with C# and I have run into an interesting
issue.
I have an old VB COM library that I need to access with a ProgId ==
'xyz'
I also have a C# class that is in a namespace like this:
"A.xyz.abc..."

I experienced the same problem that I found posted from summer 2005
(apparently too long ago to continue the thread). See below for full
description.
I found that reinstalling Access 2000 did the trick. This makes sense
based on my observations that 1) the problem didn't show up on replicas
on other machines and 2) a little dummy replicated database on my
machine behaved this same way.
BTW, an explitive burst from me when I first...

Since many of the modern computer languages have built-in namespace
features, I can't understand why not add this feature into standard C.
I've heard many people complain of the lacking of namespace in C. Of
course, namespace doesn't eliminate name polution, but it helps more
than just to put some prefix before a function name. Is it because
adding namespace will make C more complex or some other reasons?

Hi guys,
This is my first time posting question here, if I break any rules,
please kindly point out. And I'm really glad to be a part of this
community.
Here is my question,
Our lecturer told us that Unnamed Namespace is an alternative to
Static Internal Variables, but he also said that Namespace has an

I am having an interesting namespace conflict. When we use a third party
lib we create a company assembly for any descending classes to go in. I
have simplified the problem into the example below.
We are using the third party assembly Abc.Reports so we have an assembly
called ComanyName.Abc.
The problem is when I try to use the class Abc.Reports.Thing it tries to
find it in CompanyName.Abc.Reports.Thing.

Is it possible to have visual studio add the stubs for you when you
implement an interface or inherit from a an abstract class automatically.
I know this was a feature in vb.net but I can seem to work out how to do it
in C#
Thanks

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
