UDDI - Our Own Web Service Registry?

I'm one of several developers at my company, and we've all been creating web
services for some time. But we don't always know what others are doing and if
or how we can take advantage of services already out there. So we'd like to
somehow create an internal registry of all of the web services we've created
with a searchable description of what they do. Can we somehow use UDDI within
our company to accomplish this? I've been looking into it, but would
appreciate any direction others can provide.
Thanks!

Hi Jen... you could use UDDI, but it may be overkill. What you could also
do is create a bespoke Application that simply looks throught server (or
desktop) directories looking for ASMX files. You could then publish the
results on a web page.

I have a simple UDDI directory at http://uddi.webserviceshelp.org which you
may wat to take a look at to see the level of functionality you get with
Microsoft UDDI - its part of Windows 2003 Server. At present, there is just
one web service (HelloWorld) registered in the Miscellaneous category...

Dear all, UDDI has widely been accepted by the developer community to list and integrate XML web services. Unfortunately UDDI is still viewed as a yellow pages web service directory. This leads to the belief that UDDI can only be used at design time as a look up mechanism. The real value of UDDI lies as a runtime execution model. So I wonder how I can access UDDI at runtime? Microsoft SDK 2.0 can help? By the way, how can I set a private...

I was told by someone that all web services must be registered with UDDI before they will function. I created a web service on my local server and it works fine so I don't see any reason why UDDI would be a requirement if you know the exact location of the web service you are trying to access. Am I wrong? Chris

Hi there, I've been experimenting with using UDDI at runtime using the MSDN example at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnuddi/html/runtimeuddi1.asp I keep getting a 401 when I try to contact the UDDI server. It happens in the RefreshcacheFromUDDI() method defined in the article. private bool RefreshCacheFromUDDI()

I am querying an internal UDDI server for a web service URL using C#. Initially, the UDDI server was configured for Windows Integrated authentication and it worked fine. When I changed it to UDDI authentication (Basic in IIS) the code fails with "HTTP Status 401: Unauthorized". I am sending in the credentials of a valid administrative user on the system. When I use these same credentials on the browser, it works fine.

I am attempting to query a Microsoft UDDI registry using C# in Visual Studio 2005. I keep getting build errors that say "The type or namespace 'Uddi' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft'". I installed the platform SDK and ran UddiSdkRegister to register the UDDI SDK, but it didn't help. I get errors when I run UddiSdkRegister saying it had problems adding it to Visual Studio 2003. No big surprise since I'm running Visual Studio...

Hello there, I am new to web-services and so kindly excuse me for this silly basic question. I am writing a web service which wraps a VB COM DLL. Do I need to make an UDDI entry when my client clearly knows me and will access me through a firewall? Do I need to maintain a local UDDI which nobody else need to know.

Hi I am trying to use Uddi as a directory service. In my development environment it is fine however I have a problem when it comes to deploying into my production environment. I am deploying Uddi as a distributed component, database server plus app server. Unfortunately the database server in production is a 64-bit SQL 2005 server.

Hello, I have two related questions: 1. Our company hosts a couple Web services that are public, and free to use for anybody (http://DlhSoft.com/WebServices/NewsService.asmx and http://DlhSoft.com/WebServices/ProductsService.asmx). However we are unable to find the Microsoft's public UDDI registry (I found in a few search engines that Microsoft had such public UDDI registry at http://uddi.microsoft.com, but this opens a page about UDDI...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
