Transfer object from server to client via web service

Hello

Say I have a Web Service which I want to send a object from my Domain Model
to a WinForm client.

PS: Yes I have a reference to the Domain Model Assembly on both the Client
and Server side. That is I want access to the original object form the
Domain Model on the client...not the Web Service Proxy object.

How is that done in the "best" way?

I'm looking for a generic procedure to use in our internal framework, so I
would like to hear how you are doing this in real enterprise applications. I
want optimal performance and I want to minimize the amount code to write
when changing adding or a new object.

Of cause I want to submit the same object back to the server for persistent,
too.

Hi, I'm having a problem similar to the one that's stated in this KB http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;839521 When I'm posting a page to itself with the bool value as true it falls into an infinite loop and later a StackOverflow Exception. I need to do this and not a Response.Redirect or a transfer with the bool in false. My problem is that this KB is saying that this problem should be solved with ServicePack 1 of...

I've got the simple problem where I'd like to transfer somewhat large files to my webserver via http/webservice/something like that. My question is what kinda limits have people been able to hit? Is 500mb unreasonable or not. Client doesnt have to be a typical webbrowser, so I could theoretically chunk it up and send chunks to the server, when completed, re- assemble and write file etc.

I've developed a small ASPX template framework (based on Chun Li's article on CodeProject: http://www.codeproject.com/aspnet/headerfooter.asp#xx849313xx) which uses a IHttpModule to apply usercontrols (e.g. header and footer) on pages. The module determines if templates should be added to the page using Page.Request.Path. It matches the current adress to settings found in a configuration-file... It works like a charm except for one...

Hi, I have some unique situations where i need to transfer a file from Server to client but without any Open or Save dialog box shown to the user. The file should save itself directly to client machine. I want to transfer word (.doc) file from server to client without open/save dialog box. Transfer of file should be silent and invisible to client.

vb.net 2003 Windows application We have a Client/Server system set up by communicating through a TCPClient object. The server loops continuously using a tcplistener device and each time a client object attempts a connection, a new instance of a Client object is created (in the server's clients hashtable). The client object on the server (the client solution itself has same communication setup only with the code in the main form) handles...

I have googled to no avail on getting specifically what I'm looking for. I have found plenty of full blown apps that implement some type of file transfer but what I'm specifcally looking for is an example to follow for using a tcp socket to transfer files between client/server, server/client. Both server and client are my program so I'm not looking for how to implement an FTP client, or how to download a file from a web server via http...

Hi, I was reading about asynchronous transfer of control in Real Time Java Specification. I am wondering if there is any way we can do similar thing with Web Services in Service Oriented Architecture. Please let me know your opinion.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
