Application Updater Block

Hello Everyone,

I have an application that uses the application updater block V2. The
application is launched using an appStart assembly first. Everything has
been working great for a few weeks now, until last night when I added
reports to the manifest. I cannot for the life of me determine what is
going on.

I am using the Bits Downloader Provider to update my files. I have created
text files and given them the name of the report files and they transfer
fine. I have take the application.exe file and copied them as the report
file names and it transfers fine. The only time they will not transfer
properly is when they are the actual Crystal Reports. (I will concede that
Crystal has been out to torment my very existence since they came out with
the first version of their product, but this is pushing it.)

I have tested the reports function properly within the application.

Please assist me with this, I am nearing my release date, and I don't want
this to be a road block.

I challenge looking back at the updater code for two reasons: 1. It has
been compiled and unmarred since before the release of this application, and
was never altered from its original source when I downloaded it. 2. It has
been working in the past with both binary and ASCII files.

TIA

Apparently the issue is more subtle than it first appeared. While I was
experiencing this issue last night across a couple of development machines,
I cannot replicate the issue now. Perhaps the issue lies with the web
server or the network itself. I will continue to monitor this.

Thanks anyway,

Hi, I would like to make my application to automatically check on updates from a source and if any, downloads it and automatically updates itself with the new version. Now because the application itself is running, I cannot update the executable immediately, but need to request a restart of the computer to automatically update itself. Does anyone know how I can update the application without having to restart the computer but is still...

Does anyone ACTUALLY have the application updater block working? I've been beating my head against the wall on this one for about 3 days. It looks cool. It seems promising. I've even read this guy's blog entry about how to implement it (http://weblogs.asp.net/duncanma/articles/10221.aspx) and how breath takingly simple it is to actually get it done. Damned if I can get it to work.

I am trying to find a good tutorial on how to use this verison of the updater block so I can incorporate it into my projects. I have tried to use the documentation with some success, however most examples are in C# and make some big assumptions. Here is what I am after: 1. How to use Updater in my programs (references, code, etc...) 2. How to set up a manifest. 3. How to set up Updater for each project 4. Code samples for VB. 5. ...

I am looking for a way to distrubute my client application. Once I distrubute my application, I will want it to automatically update itself. I will put the new files on the webserver. I have seen examples of this on the web. But none of them are good. Does anyone know any resource where I an get the source code that is pretty much fully working? Thanks, Mark

Can somebody either post or put up a link that uses the Updater Application Block? I apparently am doing something wrong and can't figure it out. I call updater.BeginDownload with my manifests, it downloads the manifests, I activate the manifests and the programs don't get updated. The stuff that is done on the MS pages about the application block are of no help because they list all the events for an asynch download but not what to do...

Hi, Our C# windows form applications deploy on our clients, most PCs are Windows XP. And we want to do something so the application will listen to our server to check if an updating is needed, to some extent it's similiar to the Windows Update. I am not sure if C# can do this or I have to solve it in other ways. Any help will be appreciated.

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
