I am receiving an error stating that File or Assembly name
<filname.dll>, or one of its dependencies, was not found
In one assembly I have three abstract classes
In another I have three derived classes from the abstract classes
The 1st class contains the 2nd class
The 2nd class is a custom collection for the 3rd class

Hi,
I've hit quite a strange problem with XmlSerializer on my W2K3 server. When
I serialize/deserialize using an exe on my local computer (XP), everything
works fine. When I put the code out on the server (W2K3) it throws an
exception. It only seems to happen when serializing/deserializing _arrays_
of a type. If I just serialize/deserialize one instance, it works fine.
The exception I get is: (sorry for the word wrapping.)...

All,
I have quite a challenging task ahead of me. I need to write an object model
(for code access) based on a schema, which cannot be made into a dataset
because of it's complexity.
So I created a couple of objects and serializing it into XML based upon the
schema works perfectly.
The XML / Schema looks something like this:

Hello all;
I seem to be having some trouble serializing a class to XML. This code is a
cut & paste from a project which used it perfectly, but all of a sudden I'm
getting an error that the "dll ogerh_f6.dll or one of its dependancies
cannot be found". The class I'm serializing is quite simple, with a couple
of string properties marked with the XmlElementAttribute. The class is
marked with the Serializable attribute. As such, I don't...

Here's a question that I've not been able to get a definitive answer to.
Creating an STA object (such as a typical VB6 object) and assigning to the
ASP Session store is a bad thing.
It's a bad thing because it forces IIS to affiliate the Session with the
Thread on which the STA object is created.
This means all subsequent requests for that session can only be handled by
that worker thread and can therefore result it in poor...

I have written an Office Add-in for Excel using VB.NET and the .NET
1.1 Framework (I have Visual Studio 2003 .NET ). All works great. I
want to add a User Settings/Prefereneces dialog and allow the user to
specify some settings and I need to persist these settings between
runs. I made a serializable class which uses the BinaryFormatter to
serialize/deserialize the setttings.
Serialization works great. However, when I try to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
