I had a developer send me a VB.NET class library that was developed in
Visual Studio .NET v1.0. I loaded the VB project and Visual Studio
..Net v1.1 and I converted the project to v1.1. I recombiled the class
library to create a dll. I then created a C# web application that
references the dll. I am able to read the object in design time and
do all of my work. When I run the application the web page works fine
b/c I am not doing any...

not get any answer saying something like this is a bug or that .NET doesn't
support what I
trying to do.
I hope that one that is is microsoft certified read this because this must

In my unmanaged C++ app (VS 2005) I have written a class that inherits from
exception. I want to export this class from a library DLL, but the compiler
complains because exception is not itself exported. Any words of wisdom?
TIA - Bob

Hello NG,
Is it possible to share the settings of an application with a class
libreary?
In my case I have a application and a set of different reports (home made)
put into a class library.
The plan is to delivere different report.dlls with the main app.
But it is essentially importent, that the reports and the app use the same
settings.

OK. A bit behind the times, I know; but we're just moving over to .NET 2.0.
How on earth do you manage configuration settings in a class library in .NET
2.0? In version 1.1, we used a handy class called AssemblySettings that
someone (I forget his name) had written. When the class library was
finished, you deployed it to the GAC and put the configuration files in the
GAC with the class library assembly. This no longer works. In fact...

I want to create (with new) and delete a forward declared class.
(I'll call them Zorgs here - the real-life Zorks are platform-dependent
objects (mutexes, timestamps etc.) used by a cross-platform scripting
engine. When the scripting engine is embedded in an application, a
platform-specific support library is linked in.)
My first attempt goes here:
---code begin (library)---

I have a problem with Java finding my custom class directory. I have searched the forums and tried everything, but nothing seems to work. The <javapgm>.java compiled cleanly and created <javapgm>.class. Error message is:
Warning: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javapgm
Versions of software:
Apache 2.0.59(Win32)
PHP 4.4.4
Java 1.5.0_01
Windows 2000 5.0

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
