what percentage of machines have the framework installed?

I am going to be distributing a shareware application soon and would
like to know what percentage of MS OS machines have the framework
installed.

I have looked in multiple places (google, netcraft), etc and have not
found any numbers. Please advise.

You need to have your installer check for this. AFAIK,
there are no numbers and they would be meaningless if
anyone DID publish them.

I realize that my installer will need to detect this. I already have
that working.

I am just *curious* if anyone knows what percentage of MS machines have
the framework installed.

This is a very nice thing to know as the percentage helps developers
decide what language a program is going to be written in. Most
developers are not willing to write a program in dot net because the
runtime is so big. Not everybody wants to make users dowload a 26mb
runtime, so they are sticking with other languages until a high
percentage of machines already have the runtime installed. Make sense?

One of the things that I have become interested in lately is questioning in general what percentage of DB2 UDB implementations are configured to run at least near optimally given the hardware infrastructure at said site. DB2 UDB continually is releasing performance enhancements with each release especially with the most recent 8.1 and 8.2 Lots of new features introduced and many to aid in tuning performance. With that said I have to...

Hi In the framework directory I found a lot of tlb files. Does that mean that the framework can be used by COM by default? I want to do the following from COM/vba with .NET wrappers. Is that possible?: Public Shared Function Load(ByVal FilePath As String, ByVal MyType As String, ByVal MyMethod As String, ByVal MyArguments() As Object) As Object Dim loadAssembly As System.Reflection.Assembly Dim loadType As Type

I want people to download an installer for our software which includes the framework 1.1 if they haven't installed it yet, but how can I detect this to avoid people downloading the big installer package if the already have the framework installed.

Microsoft Internet Explorer sends a user agent string contains .NET Framework version if it is installed. But not all the users use MSIE. Some people use FireFox or Opera. Is there any way to check if .NET framework installed on a web browser?

Right now, all my VB.NET programs crash on startup if the .NET Framework isn't installed on the target PC. Is there a graceful way to detect, notify-in-a-friendly-way, and quit of the application if the .NET Framework is missing? -- Jeff S.

Anyone know of (or have a screenshot of) the message given when a user tries to run an a .NET application, but does not have the .NET framework installed? It's been so long, and I rarely deal with workstations that don't have the .NET framework installed, I don't remember.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
