Max threads using asynchronous invocation

Hi,

I use an asynchronous call to execute a method in a
windows service :

TargetSystemDel egate TargetSystemdel egate = new
TargetSystemDel egate(TargetSys tem .Invoke );
AsyncCallback cb = new AsyncCallback(T argetSytemCallb ack );
IAsyncResult ar = TargetSystemdel egate .BeginInvoke(re f
activity , cb, null);
Is there a limit about how many threads could be created
by the windows service ?
(Like in ASP.NET using maxWorkerThread s attribute in the
processModel element in machine.config)

If not, should I explicitly use the
System.threadin g.ThreadPool class to ensure a maximum
worker threads ?

Other question : How can I retrieve the input parameters
of my call in my callback ?
(for the moment, I use REF parameters)
Thanks,

Arnaud

Could someone explain the concept of threads and how I might use them in Python? I was a math major, not a CS major (theory instead of practice). Most of my programming knowledge has grown out of system administration and shell scripting, not professional software development. How could I make this script threaded, and why should I, how would it benefit me? The script already takes up 100% CPU resources, what would using threads gain for...

Hi There I have been programming C# for a couple of months and am trying to master Threading. I understand that ThreadPool uses background threads (see code example in MSDN page titled 'ThreadPool Class ') .... however I would like to ensure that all my ThreadPool threads have completed before I exit my Main function.

Hi I was wondering if someone could help me with the syntax for some VB.Net ASPX code to: - Start 20 threads - End all threads after the sooner of 10 seconds or if all of the threads themselves have finished. BTW, each thread checks an email address for validity with www.aspnetmx.com.

I have an object that starts a thread to do a "process". One of the steps inside this thread launches 12 other threads via a Delegate.BeginInvoke to process. After these 12 threads are launched, the main thread waits. At the completion of each subthread, the mainthread checks all 12 thread objects to see if they are done. If they are, raise an event that says we're done. So, it's kinda like this: ProcessThread - Creates a ProcessObject

I have what I imagine is a well-known .Net networking problem, but even though I've Googled for some time I've not yet come across a thread where this has been fully explained... There is a fairly common idiom (at least in the Java/UNIX/Win32 worlds) where a socket connection is established and the program then utilises two threads: one dedicated to reading from the socket and the other one concurrently writing to the socket - both using...

Hi I have to write a multi-threaded program. I decided to take an OO approach to it. I had the idea to wrap up all of the thread functions in a mix-in class called Threadable. Then when an object should run in its own thread, it should implement this mix-in class. Does this sound like plausible design decision? I'm surprised that C++ doesn't have such functionality, say in its STL. This absence of a thread/object relationship in...

Below is the example that I mercilessly copied from Jon's article. In this example, I do not understand how his AsyncResult was able to retrieve delegates. In other words, using AsyncResult delegateResult = (AsyncResult) result --will it always return the active/completed delegates in loaded in CLR? Thanks using System;

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
