Can't get context.User.Id entity in Debug Mode (ASP.NET) Web application

Hi
I am currently writing my first ASP.NET application
I am trying to get my User Identity in the web page using the following
line:
CStr(context.Us er.Identity.Nam e)

The problem is that when I run it in debug mode I get empty string.
When I try to run it as browser it works fine

Does anyone can know what need to be set in the web config (other then:
"<compilati on defaultLanguage ="vb" debug="true"></compilation>"

Any help will be highlly apreciated

thanks

Hello, I have been hunting for a while on this... I need to change the process identity for my asp.net application. I'm familiar with changing the processModel node in machine.config, but it did not have an effect. This note in machine config.... The application is a simple form of three textbox controls that results in writing an XML file to the file system of the application root when it runs on the local development machine. I've just used FTP to deploy this as my first ASP.NET application using a hosting provider using W2003 IIS6 noting the host provides a control panel that allows me to set the application root as a virtual application. The XML file is not being created...

I have a project built for ASP.NET that recently started running really slow in debug mode (it takes about 10 seconds or more to step from one line of code to the next). This just started recently and only impacts one ASP.NET project. I have some other ASP.NET projects that I can step thru with the debugger with almost instant response. I also have some Windows Forms projects that work normally. I am running Visual Studio 2003 and...

I have a DTS Package I am able to execute successfully from a Windows Form application, but I cannot get this to work from an ASP.NET Web Service, although the Web Service impersonates the same user the Windows Form runs under. When I run the Web Service, I make a call to "System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name" and this verifies the user-id is the same account I am logged onto when I successfully run my Windows...

Should ASPNET user belong to the local Users group? I may have made some changes that affected my workstation setup and I am experiencing some unexpected behaviors. For example, I have my IIS set up with anonymous login and have ASP.NET running. My ASP.NET application then creates a log file and writes to it during its course. The only thing is that it should not be able to. My questions are below. Please correct any incorrect...

Using Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2000, and ASP.NET/VB.NET for a Web Application. We have a System DSN using Windows NT authentication defined on the development box to connect to the SQL Server (both SQL and IIS are on the 192.168.1.2 server). We have "Identity Impersonate=true", and "CustomErrors mode=On" and "defaultRedirect="ErrorHandler.aspx" in web.config.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
