Hi,
I would like to call one of my functions the exact name as an existing
C library function (for example K&R2 exercises asks me to make an atof
function). If I don't include the header with the declaration for the
C library function (stdlib.h in this case) then define/declare my own
function with the same name, am I safe? It seems to work on my
compiler, but I wonder if this is portable or even acceptable? thx

Here goes: I have a web form with several asp:dropdownlists, with
which, when selection is changed I want to fire an event defined in
some clientside js.
The content of the clientside code is dependant on data collected in
the code behind on the server. I have set AutoPostback to false for
the controls and added lines such as
cboMyCombo1.Attributes.Add("onchange", "MyCombos_OnChange('1')");
in the Page_Load event, which is rendered OK...

I have some C functions I need to expose as XML web services. My original
plan was to deply an XML Web service in C# or VB and use P/Invoke to call my
C functions. This is not working because the web service cannot find the DLL
in the same directory.
This is probably because the DLL needs to be in a different directory,
perhaps the same directory as ASP.NET or \WinNT\System32. Unfortunately,
placing my DLL in these directories is not an...

Hello,
I am working on a large business application written mostly with VC++
and MFC. What I'm trying to do is accessing my database with the
existing functions in my c++ application using XML Web Services.
I decided to separate the function call from my Web Service. In order
to do this I create a project (unmanaged c++ as a static lib) where
all the functions to create a connection and request to my application
will be. Having VS.NET...

Hello,
I have an asp.net Web app in vb.net trying to call a C# web service
which takes a reference parameter. I tried a simple C# web app to call
the Web service and it works perfectly. However, when I try it in the
vb.net web app, I run into XML definition errors. Looks like the proxy
class is not able to generate the correct XML with the ref parameter.
Here is error:
The element 'urn:test-com:document:test:rfc:functions:T_RETURN has

I'm a C# developer and I'm new to Python. I would like to know if the concept of Asynchronous call-backs exists in Python. Basically what I mean is that I dispatch a thread and when the thread completes it invokes a method from the calling thread. Sort event driven concept with threads.
Thanks.

My first problem is: I am having an issue when using a web service. The web
service is written by another department and say its running fine but when I
call it, I sometimes I get a system.net.webexception return instead of the
correct return. Would anyone have any advice or suggest any extra debugging I
could do to find out where this problem might occur?
The second problem I am having is: I also called some functions within the
web...

I have a C# logging assembly with a static constructor and methods that is
called from another C# Assembly that is used as a COM interface for a VB6
Application. Ideally I need to build a file name based on the name of the
VB6 application. A second choice would be a file name based on the # COM
interface assembly. I have tried calling Assembly.GetCallingAssembly() but
this fails when I use the VB6 client. Is there a way to get this...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
