Hi All
I've noticed on quite a few ASP sites that when they have a 'MyAccount'
section they transfer the site to https and then when you have logged into
your account successfully and gone back to the majority of the site you move
back to http whilst still being logged in.
I've used the Session var method before to check if a user can have access
to pages, but how on earth can I keep a handle on this when I flip the user
between my...

Hi All,
Can anyone give me a sample project which is using IIS 5.0 as a server,
using Login control of .net 2005(beta) and Profile class.
Login Page should have https configuration and another one page with simple
http.
And just Disply the userid of that user on the page with http protocol which
has logged in from Login control of the page with https protocol.

I have an asp.net application in which I sometimes store a persistent
cookie once the user has logged in and this has been working great.
However, I now add some user information like, username, firstname,
lastname, etc. in the session collection and this works fine, but only
the first time the user loggin.
But, when the user returns I just get nil errors, because this data is
lost.
So, I guess, I'm missing something like auto-logging the...

Hi All,
I am facing a very crucial problem. Im developing a web application
using .net studio 2005(beta).
I want my Login.aspx page to be secured(https) for encrypted login
information transfer. I modified web.config and properties of Login page
from IIS server. And now when ever the execution is redirected to Login.aspx
It is having https as its protocol.

Anyone care to express their two cents over pros and cons of encrypting the
data being transmitted (within the SOAP package) versus just utilizing a
HTTPS connection?

Hi,
I have a scenario where i need to configure only Login.aspx page to use
SSL. All other application will run on HTTP protocol. If someone can
guide me how to accomplish this. One of my idea is to keep login.aspx
page in a seperate Virtual director and apply SSL only on that
directory but i dont know if it will have an impact on session (may be
it will create two sessions due to two different virtual directories).
If some one can...

Hi All,
We have a requirement where we have to develop a custom Login Page which
will accept user's NT credentials ( Username , password, domain name).
This then needs to be passed to a website which uses Windows Authentication
Now my question is how do we pass these credentials to IIS in classic ASP?
Would appreciate any help/pointers on this.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
while I'm developing sites for some time I never coded a login form with
security in mind.
I was wondering what guidelines there are.
For my point of view I'm thinking of using md5 passwords (it's an one
way function right?) in db. Is this a correct approach?

Hi y'all!
I'm new at perl, and I'm trying to automate a file fetch.
I have this url (in this example called 'https://GetMyFile'), which, when I paste it into a browser, gives me the pop-up "File Download" - Do you want to open or save this file?.. And clicking 'save' gives me the file I want.
I would like to achieve the same result automatically, without having to paste the url into a browser and click 'save' a specify where to save my...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
