Here when many users are trying to update the same table the dead lock
situation is arising. I like to know how i can put a lock at record
level in my table, so that the dead lock situation will not arise.
pls send me a CC to kschintala@yahoo.com also

Hi all,
I have an .mdb file (access database) which has been set to table level
locking (i.e. not just records in question, but the whole table). The
database is also in sharing mode (ie. not exclusive)...
here is my problem:
i have an application that accesses the aforementioned database from Jet
ODBC driver and runs a query which implicitly locks the whole table -

Hey guys,
In our Oraganization we have Oracle8i as database. All the newly supported locking systems for the database are with 9i. we need table locking and row level locking from .NET to Oracle8i.
Thanks in advance,

I don't recall exactly what options I selected in September when I
installed the beta v5.0.4 on my development machine, But, as I started
to develop and then backup data, I noticed that my tables are all using
the storage engine: InnoDB.
Can someone jog my memory and tell me what options cause that to be the
default ?
I'm on the fence, b/w choosing MyISAM and InnoDB
- I don't think I'll be using any transactions or foreign keys, in my...

I'm having problem with using DAO recordset to append record into a
table and subsequent code to update other tables in a transaction. The
MDB is Access 2000 with the latest service pack of JET 4. The system is
client/server, multiusers based. The MDBs are using record locking.
Here is part of the code:
Dim wkSpace As Workspace, db As Database
Dim rstTrans As DAO.Recordset
Set wkSpace = DBEngine.Workspaces(0)

Just started investigating InnoDB after having used MyISAM tables in
the 4.0.12 version, almost immediately ran into a locking issue with
INSERTs, DELETEs, and transactions.
Given the following table:
CREATE TABLE test1 (
f1 varchar(32) default NULL
)
and a steady stream of INSERTs from a command-line shell:

I need to do some sort of Locking mechanism at interface level, instead of DB Level.
I know how MySQL table locking works, but that won't work in my scenerio.
Requirements:
When someone is editing a case, for example changing the persons info, editing the violations/charges they have, etc... I don't want another user to have pulled the same case and one of them clicks Update or Save before the other.
So the case is locked for...

I have a sproc that returns data from a table using a simple SELECT. There
are quite a few rows returned, e.g. ~150,000.
In my first application, I use a reader on the sproc and iterate through the
rows, writing them out to a file. This takes about 5 minutes until I close
the reader.
Whilst this is going on, I have another application that is trying to insert
rows into the table. Normally, the inserts happen straight away, but when...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
