.NET Remoting Exception: The system cannot find the file spe

Hi,

I am learning .NET remoting and following the tutorial

http://www.csharphelp.com/archives2/archive460.html

Everything works fine.

Now I want to modify it a bit for my personal use but I failed :o

Original file
using System;
using System.Runtime. Remoting.Lifeti me;

namespace Remote.Samples
{
public class MyRemoteObject: System.MarshalB yRefObject
{
public MyRemoteObject( )
{
Console.WriteLi ne("MyRemoteObj ect Constructor
Called");
}
public override object InitializeLifet imeService()
{
return null;
}
public string Hello()
{
return "Hello, Welcome to .Net Remoting !";
}
}
}
I want to modify the Hello method so that it will execute the command
I want

[code:1:02ffcbdc 44]
public string Hello()
{
ps = new System.Diagnost ics.ProcessStar tInfo();
ps.FileName= @"C:\USERLIST.E XE"; //The command I want
to execute, I am sure the file is there
ps.RedirectStan dardOutput=true ;
p = new System.Diagnost ics.Process();
ps.UseShellExec ute=false;
p.StartInfo=ps;
p.Start(); // this causes Exception
return p.StandardOutpu t.ReadToEnd();
}
[/code:1:02ffcbdc 44]

Output
Exception: The system cannot find the file
specified
How to solve the problem?

Million thanks.

Michael

Hello, We are at a very crucial decision making stage to select between .Net and Java. Our requirement is to download a class at runtime on the client computer and execute it using remoting or rmi. Just to keep my question short I am posting trimmed version of my code. //file: Serializable.cs

Hello everyone, I am a plenty silly person who is trying to learn .NET remoting through trial and error (all articles I read are going over my head at the moment (mostly) so I thought i'd give it a go). What I want to do is this: Have a server instance of the program, this server instance will receive communication from client programs (as demonstrated in the AddMessage()

Hi All! I have a .NET remoting Client-Server application with Server Activated Objects only.. something is worrying me.. sometimes (rarely), I can't connect to the server although it is running. I get the exception saying "A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable host".. it means that it behaves the same as if the server

I've been following a couple remoting tutorials on the web, they are all pretty much the same. I've got my different applications built(client, server and remote object (dll)) The client is able to get a reference to the remote object and that works fine. When I try to make a call to a remote object's method I get an exception: System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException: Cannot find the assembly ProcessTest,...

We are working on a distributed VB.Net application which will access a SQL database located on a known server. Each client will run on the user's local machine. To implement this, we are trying to use remoting for our access to the SQL server, with the remoting being via IIS. Since all of our users will have accounts in the destination domain, we want to have IIS handle the security for us and not allow anonymous. We have set this up...

Hi, I'm using the remoting, and I have a remoting object that has a public event that other processes should register to it. But when the client process is registering to the remote event, it throw the following exception: System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException {“Cannot find the assembly Tester, Version=1.0.2164.27180, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null.”}

Hi I have a strange problem. Here is some input data before I describe the problem. 1. RemoteClass (Mathematica) is compiled into dll and put to GAC 2. Server remoting configuration is done by code. //used in case of code configuration TcpChannel channel = new TcpChannel(5000);

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
