Barcode fonts

rt
I hope this is the right news group to ask but if not I'm sure someone will
correct me.

I have a .NET application that uses 3 different 3 of 9 TrueType fonts. If I
have a newly installed OS (2000 or XP) and print the document containing a
barcode, the barcode is printed with the wrong font. We had a machine that
did print correctly and so we started experimenting to see what produced the
correct rendering when printed. It turns out that installing Microsoft
Office (2000) corrects the problem. We've verified this by installing Office
on freshly installed machines half a dozen times (literaly) each time with
the sames results.

Order of installation:
1) OS (2000 Pro/Server or XP Pro)
2) .NET 1.1
3) Our application
4) Office

Any idea what we may be missing so that we don't have to install Office?

Thanks,

Rick

Could it be that Microsoft Office installed a different version of the font?
When you install Office, it installs some extra fonts by default. Perhaps
your version of the font is incompatible with your printer, but the Office
version works. Just a theory.

Robert,

No, the font is Free3of9 plus a couple other 3of9 barcode fonts. They don't
exist in the Office products.

Thanks,

Rick

Hello Rick,

Thanks for your post. As I understand, the problem you are facing is that
the Barcode will not be printed properly until you install Office 2000.
Please correct me if there is any misunderstandin g. I'd like to share the
following information with you:

Does the problem occur if you display Barcode a Form before printing?

Generally speaking, the problem may be caused by the Barcode font or the
printer driver. Please compare them on the system before installing Office
with those with Office installed.

Hope this helps.

Hello, I'm setting up a barcode system for a storage-database. Now I'm looking for a free (cheap) solution to print barcodes using reports. I'll have to show the barcode to the screen before printing (wasn't my decision). I found two possibilities - using tt-fonts - using an active-x-control

I am working on an online promotional deal for a client where I need to be able to create a barcode that can be redeemed at checkout of one of their branch stores. Has anyone worked with this before? It seems pretty straitforward in terms of genrating the barcode dynamically from the numbers I'll be given, but doesn't a barcode have to print at a particular size and resolution in order to work? I was thinking of generating the barcode...

Hey all, I've written a VB.Net app that creates picture badges complete with barcodes. The problem is that the barcode quality is not good enough to be read by scanners. I'm using the DRAWSTRING function to place the barcode on the image, but no matter what graphics settings (.InterpolationMode/.CompositingQuality etc.) I manipulate, the barcode image remains poor quality. For exaple I'm using a solidbrush that is black, but some of...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
