I have a python program and this program is a service.
chronologically:
1. I install my program like service -> it's ok
2. I start the service -> it's ok
3. I stop the service -> it's ok

Hi chaps,
I have .net framework 2002 sp2 installed and am deploying a C# listener
service to handle calls to a database via remoting. Win 2K sp3 environment.
If I install the sevice using an msi created using a Visual Studio setup
project for the service and specify the domain user name and password for
the service during setup, the service hangs on starting until I go into the
services dialog and change the service account to local...

On one PC, I have several services, all of which need to run, some of which
I am writing, and some of which (such as SQL server) I am not writing.
My overall goal is to have a restartable, stable system. One of my services
is a "system monitor" which controls the startup of the other services I am
writing, based on the SQL server having started.
I am using WMI to monitor services, and
System.ServiceProcess.ServiceController to start...

I would like to set command line arguments to a service at install time. I
need to do this because I need to get information from different registry
locations depending on my command line argument. I have to do it this way as
the consumer of the service should not be able to change the argument -
except by uninstalling and reinstalling the service.
I created the service and the service itself works great. However, when I
try to install...

Hi,
I have a VB.NET Service application that's running fine under the Local
System account. But for configuration purposes I don't want to be dependent
on modifying the registry manually or using an seperate application (like I
do now).
I want to implement a system tray icon when someone logs on to the console.
I've tried several samples but I can't get the icon to the system tray. I
know there are some issues because the logged on...

Hello,
I have written a windows service and created an installer for it.
The service runs under the system accounts. When started, it launches a
GUI.
By default, the InteractiveProcess property of the service is not set
(this can be checked by right-clicking on the service in the Services
window (Admin tools>Services), choosing Properties, LogOn tab). In
order to enable my service to launch a GUI at startup, I added the
following lines...

What would be a good way to check programmatically whether a service was
running?
We have a service that dies periodically and I need to check to see if this
service is running. I know how to check to see if the status is in stopped
or running mode. But that doesn't tell me if it is actually running.
I need to know this so that if it happens I can programmatically start the
same service on another machine.

Is there a way to change a Service's startup type somewhere in the .net
framework?
I've been messing around with the System.ServiceProcess namespace which
allows me to start, stop and pause services however if the service's
startup type is set to "Disabled" there is no way for me to change it
to Automatic or Manual... attempting to start a disabled service
results in exceptions (i.e. ServiceController.Start).

I published the software i've designed but
it seems that since it's designed as a
service, i'm not able to use the usual
publishing tools in VS05.
When i try to install the software, it
says i need to run installutil.exe by hand
and i'd like the installer to do that for
me.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
