Hi,
Appreciated anyone who can help us with our problem. Our backup job
for ROUTT database has been failing for the last 4 days. It was
working fine for almost a year now. The only thing happened few days
before the problem started is the addition of more memory to the
server because we've been getting the low virtual memory error. There
are two databases in this server so we have two backup jobs everyday.

In SQL 2000, is there an advantage to defining and using a backup
device versus just backing up to disk?
Currently, I've got a SQL Backup job set to run once per day, with
transaction log backups running every hour. The db and backups are
written directly to folders on an external disk array. I've never
configured an actual Backup Device within SQL. Does creating a Backup
Device offer any advantages not available with my current backup...

I just brought a new small server online. It has two disks in RAID1
(mirrored) for the operating system and logs and DB2 DBMS. DB2 data
on a separate RAID 5EE array on four disks. (IBM ServeRAID 6i
controller.)
I don't expect more than 200 GB total data ever in the DB2 database
(starting with 120 MB), and 150 GB in other stuff.
Want to backup the database separately, and then everything else. Now

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
