Passing forms/controls between AppDomains

I am using a separate appdomain to load and setup a control, and need to pass either that control back to the application, or pass the form to the control (so it can add itself).

But I get the following error:Type System.Windows. Forms.Form+Cont rolCollection in assembly System.Windows. Forms, Version=1.0.500 0.0, Culture=neutral , PublicKeyToken= b77a5c561934e08 9 has not been declared as serializable.

Now my question to you guru guys is: how do I fix this?

Dear all, In my application I have a lot of hidden fields. I want to make them invisible for the users though for debugging reasons I want to make them visible. So I want to add these objects to an array-variable and pass this variable to a subroutine in which I make all stored objects in the array-variable invisible. Can somebody explain me how to declare the correct variables, how to pass these to a sub routine and how to make these...

I'm a rookie at C# and OO so please don't laugh! I have a form (fclsTaxCalculator) that contains a text box (tboxZipCode) containing a zip code. The user can enter a zip code in the text box and click a button to determine whether the zip code is unique. If the zip code is not unique, another form/dialog is displayed (fclsLookup) - lookup form/dialog. The zip code and zipid are both passed to the lookup form/dialog by reference. I...

OK, I'm trying to further my understanding of threading. The code below I wrote as kind of a primer to myself and maybe a template that I could use in the future. What I tried to do was pass data into a background thread and get other data out and also update the main thread on which the main form was created. It seems to work fine. The basic function of the app is cheesy, I didn't spend any time on exception handling. northwind.mdb...

Apparently you can only do this with one value i.e Call MyAssetLocationZoom(Me!txtLocation, "Amend data") This runs; Public Sub MyAssetLocationZoom(ctl As Control, formName As String) On Error GoTo err_zoom strFormName = formName

Hi all, I am currently writing an application in VB.NET that has a lot of controls (treeviews/listviews/labels and so forth) that represent "things" that need to be draggable from place to place, including between controls and windows. In the past when I've implemented Drag and Drop in other projects, I've always passed the item being dragged (for example the listviewitem or the treenode) to the DoDragDrop and then retrieved it in the...

Hello All, (newbie)...I'm working on an Ordering app using the typical tables (customers, orders). I have a Search form to find existing customers prior to entering a new order. On the search form there's a combo control called 'custname' so that when a customer is located, the existing customer name is filled in and the account number goes into the Account control (from an autonumber field called CustomerID from Customer table). The rest of...

If this is simple, forgive my ignorance, but I'm coming from the CompactFramework where we don't use AppDomains. I did a fair bit of archive searching and couldn't find an answer and I got no responsed in the remoting group after a week, so I'm throwing a little wider net this time. I have a desktop app (FFx 2.0) developed with Studio 05 that loads assemblies in a separate AppDomains from the primary UI. I'd like to be able to hook up...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
