I installed VS.NET 2003 and was very happy with it.
Yesterday I installed VS6 (with SP5) because I need to debug a VB6 app and
after I was done with it I noticed the debugging in VS.NET 2003 became very
slow.
Stepping through a code normally take a split second before, now it take
almost a minute per line.
I am pretty sure the installing of the VS6 has something to do with it,
unfortunately I need both VB6 and the new VS.NET both on the...

I have installed the VS.NET 2005 Beta 1 and now VS.NET 2003 projects in
VS.NET 2003 do not compile. Is the Beta supposed to run side by side with
the older version? Or is it supposed to make older versions stop working any
more?

I'm having some inconsistency problems with my deployment project ("Setup")
and its custom actions ("Installer"). I'm using Visual Studio .NET 2003
(.NET 1.1, no service pack) on Windows XPSP1.
My main project is a band object (Explorer Bar) in an assembly (.DLL) that
needs to be registered on installation and unregisted on uninstallation. In
addition, during installation, Setup creates registry subkeys, sets registry
values, installs...

I've been working on an ASP.NET application for a while. Debugging was
really fast. But then the debugging started to slow down. When it got to the
point where it took 5 seconds to step from line to line, or to the next
breakpoint, I decided to see if I could figure out why. There was another
post a year ago about this problem, but no solution.
It turns out that I had some old breakpoints that were creating the problem.
As soon as I...

I'm going to be installing VS 2003 over my existing VS; are there any
factors/considerations/precautions I should be aware of before doing so ?
will the older VS be removed automatically or is it an option ?
Thanks ...
btw, I'm also going to install Office 2003; anyone know if my Outlook email
accounts and other preferences/settings/etc will be preserved ? I can't
seem to find an answer to this anywhere even though it seems an easy...

Hi,
I have a project (WebService) in VS 2003 and did not have a problems until I
installed .NET 2.0 with Visual Web Developer Express Version 2005.
Now every "Step Over" when debugging the project using VS 2003 takes a
second. Which is a pain.
I blame NET 2.0
Can someone tell me if it's possible to speed that up or do I have to
uninstall NET 2.0

Hi,
This morning I installed Visual Studio 2005 side-by-side 2003. The
first problem I've noted is that projects in 2003 that have "Start
External Program" set don't do that. I'm creating a DLL plug-in for
ArcMap (an ESRI product), so I set the external program to point to its
EXE.
When debugging, it shows the splash screen of the application it's
supposed to start, then bombs with no error message, and the debugging
stops (just...

My .net web application became very slow on debugging
(it was working fine)
I have installed the exe described in the post
http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2007/08/21/public-hotfix-patch-available-for-vs-2005-f5-debugging-performance-issue-with-asp-net.aspx
But it did not help me, what can I do?

After installing SourceSafe integration with Access 2003, th database
startup became very slow. My database is big, more than 10,000 objects
or so. It seems Access/VSS attempts to refresh the Source Control
status (the little lock icon next to each object), and it takes long
time.
Is there a way to disable this update process at start up?
Any work around to get the database starts as fast as it used to be
before the integration?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
