Preprocessor conditional compilation variable not being saved

I have set a conditional compilation preprocessor directive in the
Project>Propert ies Build page. The variable is retained in the project when
exiting VS and returning. However, the code that is based on that
preprocessor is not honored when entering VS. I have to remove the
preprocessor variable, save the properties and then re-enter the variable
each time I enter VS. Has anyone else ran into this problem?

I have a preprocessor constant (SUPPORT_PNG_IMAGE) with 3 states, to control the compilation: --------- #undef SUPPORT_PNG_IMAGE #define SUPPORT_PNG_IMAGE #define SUPPORT_PNG_IMAGE ONLY --------- With the 1st & 3rd line the following line works --------- #if SUPPORT_PNG_IMAGE == ONLY ---------

To begin with an example... Let's say you were wanting to write code usign early binding to the MSXML library, but then be able to switch between early and late binding at will. Conditional compilation is one possibility, but it's not practical. 1. You have to put a precompiler condition block around every Dim and every function...

Greetings C gurus, I have used preprocessor directives since a very long time. But whenever I see some professional piece of C code, the linux kernel for example, I get literally confused by the amount of preprocessor directives used in these code. Can anyone please tell me how to actually use these preprocessor directives in a more...

Hi, Could I ask some questions about the conditional compilaion? Suppose I have three simple files: a.c, b.c and c.h /* --------a.c--------- */ #include <stdio.h> #include "c.h" int main()

I have never really used the preprocessor commands so this may seem like a newbie question. In my development code, I short circuit certain variables being set by hardcoding them. So for example I would say something like PlanID = 1; However, in the production code, PlanID comes already assigned to me and if I keep this assignment, I...

I'm trying to use the gpp utility (Gnu points to http://en.nothingisreal.com/wiki/GPP) to do conditional compilation in Python, and I'm running into a problem: the same '#' character introduces Python comments and is used by default to introduce #ifdef etc. lines. Here's an example of what I'm trying to do: #ifdef DEBUG...

Hello! Can the proprocessor make conditional decisions. Here's an example of the functionality (not standard C!) #define PUT_BYTE(const_index, val) \ #preprocessor_if (const_index == 0) \ ({ *(77) = (val); }) \ #preprocessor_else_if (const_index == 1) \ ({ *(99) = (val); }) \

All, I'm looking for a tool that is able to take my code base (which is full of preprocessor directives) and spit out source code that is "clean" of any preprocessor directives based on the options I choose (possibly via some kind of user input screen). Does such a tool exist? A Visual Studio plugin would be even better. FYI: I have...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
