I am working on a school project based on VB.NET and
Active Directory. In my project documentation, because I
used Active Directory as my basis for data, I must show an
entity relationship diagram or at least a data dictionary
showing field relationships between AD tables.
Does Microsoft have a database dictionary or something
that shows relationships of the various tables for Active
Directory?

I mean: which RDBMS
1) allows to declare that relationship is in fact 1-1, and
2) protests when one tries to violate the 1-1 relationship,
that is inserts into a table two records with the same
foreign key?
Thank you in advance.

I tried to create a relationship in EM's diagram pane in
SQL Server 2000 (I'd list the version of EM, but About gives me
the MMC version, which is probably not relevant.)
(The database itself is SQL Server 2000 SP3.)
I got an error that I don't understand (because, at least
at first blush, it appears to be quite untrue). Note that
I have never clicked before on the diagrams child of the
database; this was entirely experimental.

Hello,
I am designing a table of vehicle types, nothing special, just a list of
unique vehicle types such as truck, lorry, bike, motor bike, plane, tractor
etc etc
For the table design I am proposing a single column table with a field name
called vehicle_type and this will contain the vehicle type.

Dear All,
Silly question, but I am having trouble understanding the diagram on the
inside back cover entitled "Design Pattern Relationships." It shows the
relationships between all of the design patterns. Unfortunately, the book
doesn't exactly explain what it all means. Although it looks very pretty -
would anyone give me some background on its usefulness? For example is it
just illustrating how different patterns come together to...

Suppose an ASP application which retrieves data from a SQL Server
database table is accessed by 100 users. Each of the users have a
password. Assume that the DB table has 25 columns
& the passwords of 3 users are 'A1', 'B2', 'C3' (excluding the quotes).
What the application should do is if the password is 'A1', then that
user should be displayed the records of the columns Column1, Column7,
Column16, Column20 & Column25 only. If the...

That subject line will have Joe Celko apoplectic!!
Let's say I have this thing. Oh, I don't know, a car. No, a vehicle. Can we
agree that is an entity type?
Some attributes might be VIN, Fuel, Color.
Some entity instances might be:
wvv2939-32-2993-2-90, Gasoline, Blue
wvv3942-3249--2830-2, Diesel, Red
I wanna make it easy to get the colors in. Keep a list of 'em somewhere. So

I've got an Access 2003 mdb that I'm converting to VB.Net. I'm having
trouble with getting the main data source to update after updates to a lookup
table.
There are 2 tables with a one-to-many relationship in the mdb. VB.Net
recognizes this relationship according to it's dataset designer diagram.
Currently I have 2 forms: a main form for data-entry and a...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
