Canned Testing Fails but WS is working

I am new to .NET, but not new to WS or development. I am eager to use VB.NET
as a (relatively) rapid WS development tool. One of the .NET features that
helps accomplishing that is the the canned testing architecture while
developing a WS.

I have my environment (WindowsXP Pro, IIS 5.1, VB.NET 2003) working
smoothly. The WS I create work perfectly fine (from other .NET applicatons).
Unfortunately, when I use the Debug->Start and click the Invoke button on
the resulting web page, a new browser window is launched and simply grinds on
forever without any results whatsoever.

I searched this forum and several others for what I thought would be a
"popular" problem - but I've struck out. Does anyone have any advice on what
might be my problem?

Thanks,
Michael O'Neill

Have you tried attaching the WS process to the debugger clicking the invoke
button?

Hi all ya unit-testing experts there :) Code I'm working on has to parse large and complex files and detect equally complex and large amount of errors before the contents of the file is fed to module interpreting it. First I created a unit-test class named TestLoad which loaded, say, 40 files of which about 10 are correct and other 30 files contained over 20 different types of errors. Different methods on the TestLoad class were coded so...

Hi, I am thinking about ways for efficient techniques for isolation testing. Here is the problem as I see it: Complex OO systems are designed with massive number of dependencies between modules and classes. In most cases these dependencies end-up in external systems such as databases and OS. Overhead in designing systems with "could be stubbed" in mind is great, so in many cases dropped. I would appreciate if anyone interested in this...

Question I am posting this question again (3rd time) because some issues with my no spam alias. Here it is the question: I have not been able to run unit tests for a VSTO (2005) project. I have an Excel project and a unit test project in the same solution. I have not found the way to initialize the runtimecallback as required by the code generated

Hello, I would like to show you a new collaborative website for javascript programmer. It's quite hard to know if some specific code you wrote will work on all browsers, and if not, why it doesn't work. You often have to install lot of browsers on your computer, buy a mac or a pc, and make unit tests.

Hi. There are plenty of sites on the internet offering pre-canned templates for web sites, but what about pre-canned templates for web forms? Can anyone point me in the direction of a site/sites that have web form templates for purchase or free? For example; my idea of a web form template is where buttons, edit boxes, form backgrounds, form shadows etc. have all been predesigned and I can simply apply a style sheet to my web appication...

Hi list. What strategies do you use to ensure correctness of new code? Specifically, if you've just written 100 new lines of Python code, then: 1) How do you test the new code? 2) How do you ensure that the code will work correctly in the future? Short version:

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
