im a visual c++ und borland c++builder newbie.
i have witten a simple mandelbrot algorithm and compiled it with both
vc++ (mfc) and cbuilder (vcl) (same code besides the drawing part).
the vc++ version is twice! as fast in release mode. in debug mode its
as fast as cbuilder. it seems i cant get cbuilder to compile a real
release version. when i check "Project options:compiler:release" it
even gets slower than debug! i have played...

Hi
I wrote a C++Builder program that throws/catch many exceptions
(let's say 1.000.000/ hours). The problem is that I think that is a
bug in the Borland C++Builder exception handling mechanism.
If I catch an exception with catch(...) the memory is never freed! so
my computer can quickly get memory-exhausted.
Here is the code that generates the problem. In VC++ I don't have this

Which to purchase is the question.
My Borland 4.5 C/C++ compiler is old. The personal or student version of
either BBC++ or MVC++ is being investigated for home use. My personal
preference happens to be Borland, which I am not able to purchase wisely due to
a lack of product knowledge. You can bombard me with good suggestions,
including a solid reference book on your compiler of choice.

(ancestor of C++ Builder) and haven't touched it until a few days ago. I
