Hi -
I program in C++ but I'm not good with VC++ (yet). I will like to
create a custom project for which a specific template or wizard does
not exist.
Because the program is a console application, I started out with the
Win32 Console Project template. Having done that, the problem is that
my application uses a custom header files and libraries (see code
below) that VC++ does not know about. My question therefore is how do I

I started to experiment with VC++ 2005 Beta1. So far everything went
fine, and already have a working project, but soon I realized that the
compiler was ancient (not supporting half of the C++/CLI standard). So I
downloaded the VC++ 2005 Tools Refresh (http://tinyurl.com/5mdq2). After
that I tried to do a full rebuild, but my project wouldn't link anymore.
I get the following errors:
MSVCMRTD.lib(mstartup.obj) : error LNK2022: metadata...

Hi,
I can't seem to locate the visual C++ (pre .NET) ng. This may be slight
off topic here - please point me to the correct ng if it is.
Without going into much detail (and repeating myself several times), I
am using Visual C++ 6.0 to develop applications - *instead* of .Net. I
am using the MFC to create my GUI components.
I am particularly interested in doing the ff with my GUI:

I have downloaded & installed both VC++ express and the platform SDK.
Now I want to compile some win32 source code but it doesn't, it don't find
the headers.
Now I guess I could add the PlatformSDK's lib & include directories in my
project.
But the problem is, unfortunately everything is intsalled on the F: drive
and I would like to share my project with a friend.
And I would like him to just have to hit 'F5' and run the project.
So I...

Hi,
We are involved in a porting project (from VC++ 6.0 to .Net VC++
7.1). ** NOT C# or VB..NET.
We have a custom app wizard written in 6.0. This basically creates a
project with a set of template based classes. We have to port it. But
there is a significant change in the way custom app wizards are created
in both the versions of vc++.

I am needing to build python 2.5 on Windows XP x64 Windows Server 2003
sp1 Platform SDK and am not finding anything documented on the process
to use. Has anyone had any success with this? If so has anyone
documented it? The documentation that resides in pcbuild/readme.txt is
not helpful at all.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I am currently migrating my Visual C++ 6.0 applications to Visual Studio
2005. I am getting compiler errors involving the VS2005's platform SDK.
When I removed directory references to that SDK, and started using the
Microsoft Platform SDK for XP SP2, the errors disappeared, but I am now
getting numerous warnings (macro redefinitions) as follows:
StdAfx.cpp
WINVER not defined. Defaulting to 0x0502 (Windows Server 2003)

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
