Dear All,
I’m developing software using Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 and having a problem
with Remote Procedure Call (RPC). Since RPC is used as a tool to communicate
between applications over networks as servers and clients, I have developed a
real-time database server and also several client application programs. Both
clients and servers communicate between each other through the RPC functions
and services. At the beginning of a test period (around 17 days), all
applications worked fine and performed their jobs very well but after that
all client applications could not call some remote functions to the server. I
have noticed that all clients were able to connect (bind) to the server and
call some functions which implies that a listen process of the server was
still exist. However, for some functions that could be called before (during
the first 17 days) such as database reading functions, when called from those
clients, the functions kept returning the error code: 1726 (The remote
procedure call failed.). It didn’t provide much detail of that error. The
specification of the server and 8 client PCs are as follows:
Server: Dell, Xeon 2.3 GHz with dual CPU, DDR Ram 1 GB, SCSI HDD Raid 5, OS
Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 4.
Clients: Acer, Pentium 4 - 2.0 GHz, DDR Ram 2 GB, OS Windows 2000
Professional with Service Pack 4.
Other Devices: 100 Mbps Switch.
I don’t know if there is any bug in the RPC run-time library of Service Pack
4. I have searched and found some Microsoft articles which report that RPC
has some bugs when using with “the Cluster service” but they have been fixed
already in the Service Pack 4 of Windows 2000. I would really appreciate if
anyone could help solving my problem.
Thank you very much,

Hello All,
I have been working on .NET (especially C#) applications on this computer
for a long time. Everything was working fine until yesterday, but when I came
back into work today and tried to open up an application taht I've been
working on for a while (and subsequently tried all the other applications on
my computer), it wouldn't open up in Visual Studio .NET 2003. The Error
message I get is:

Howdy,
I have a function that uploads an image and that works great. I love ..Nets built in upload, so much easier than 3rd party uploaders!
Now I am making a public function that will take the path of the uploaded image, and resize it with the provided dimensions. My function is below. The current function is returning an error when run from the upload function: A generic error occurred in GDI+. Not sure what exactly that means. From what...

My employer is starting to take the first steps towards migrating its

I've writtin a very simple web service in axis which returns an array of
classes.
I consume it in a .net app. When receiving the response, my .net app
generates an error "Cannot assign object of type System.Object to an

I've included the wsdl of the consumed axis web service, the
request/responses of the web service by the .net app and the exception and

I get the above error in some of the ASP.NET web applications on a

This is a rather long post, and I hope I have enough details that
someone who bothers to read all of it have some pointers.
Note, I have posted the stack trace and the code exhibiting the problem
further down so if you want to start by reading that, search for +++

I've always had a problem knowing exactly how wide my integer variables were
in C, and the little program below has increased my confusion.
Run on 3 compilers on the same cpu (32-bit pentium), sometimes int and long
int are the same, and long long int is twice the width; or sometimes both
long int and long long int are twice the width of int.
This apparently all quite normal according to my c99 draft and c-faq.com.
However it doesn't...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
