Inheritance, member of the class orfriend

Hi All,
I have a question regarding about inheritance and member of the class. For
example I have the class A and class B what is the situation that I need to
define class B is base class of class A or class B is member of class A like
below:
Scenario 1:
class A : public B
Scenario 2:
or
class A
{
private:
B myB;
......
}
or
Scenario 3
class A
{
public :
friend class B
.......
}
Please help me to understand what are different between 3 scenario.
Thanks in advance
JP

Without knowing the specifics of the classes in question it's impossible to
speculate on whether inheritance, composition or friendship would be most
appropriate. Some very basic questions you should ask are:
Is there an "is a" relationship between the classes in question (IOW, does
it make sense to say: "An A *is a* B."?) Example: If I have a class named
Person and another named Student, it makes sense to say that a student is a
person, and that Student is a specialization of Person.
For composition, is there a "has a" relationship between the classes, does B
have an A? Example: I have an Automobile class and an Engine class. It makes
sense to say that an Automobile *has an* engine and an instance of Engine
should be a data member of Automobile.
Friendship as you've shown it gives B direct access to class A private
members, thus bypassing any safety measures built into A's public methods
for controlled access to private members of A. My personal opinion is that
you should think carefully before doing that.
I'm sure others here will elaborate and improve upon my response.

Error in msvc in building inheritance.obj to build hello.pyd Hello, I am trying to build the boost 1.31.0 sample extension hello.cpp. I can not compile the file inheritance.cpp because the two files containing some templates: adjacency_list.hpp and mem_fn.hpp can not compile. Does anyone have any solutions?

Hi, I have a hierarchy of classes and would like to create an array of pointers to member functions that could also contain pointers to the parent member functions as well. What is the syntax for this? #include <string> using std::string;

A while back, I started boning up on Software Engineering best practices and learning about Agile programming. In the process, I've become much more committed to removing duplication in code at a much finer level. As such, it's very frustrating to be working in VBA which lacks inheritance, one of the more powerful tools for eliminating duplication at the level I'm talking about. I've recently come up with a technique to emulate one...

I'm writing a family of classes which all inherit most of their methods and code (including constructors) from a single base class. When attempting to instance one of the derived classes using parameters, I get CS1501 (no method with X arguments). Here's a simplified example which mimics the circumstances: namespace InheritError { // Random base class. public class A { protected int i;

Are there any good references/articles/books which provide clarity toward my insecurity still on deciding how to model a complex system? I still feel uncomfortable with my understanding, even though I have worked with these systems on when to decide to use interfaces (and how they should be developed) as opposed to or complemented by the use of inheritance from base classes. If I am thinking from the point of view of some specific activity...

I'm very new to c++ and just writing some code to learn. I've run into a problem, with a javaish design, and want to know if there is any possible solution without modifying the design. I've read up on virtual inheritance and from my understanding this should work fine but I haven't found any docs that use such a tangled example. The gcc output containing the errrors: Example.cpp: In member function 'virtual IObject*...

Hello, I've been reading Effective C++ about multiple inheritance, but I still have a few questions. Can someone give me some help please? First, it is said that if virtual inheritance is used, then "the responsibility for initializing a virtual base is borne by the most derived class in the hierarchy". What does it mean? Initializing base class is usually done automatically by the compiler, but a derived class can invoke the base...

i read book <effective c++>,it tell me that public inheritance means is-a ,and private inheritance means is-implemented-in-terms-of. but today i am puzzled by some strange codes. the following program can not pass compiling , bailing : g++ d.cpp -o d d.cpp: In function `int main()': d.cpp:27: error: `a' is an inaccessible base of `b' it is obviously okay to understand,because private inheritance is-

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
