Designtime changing which column a CRecordSet binds

I am transitioning to Visual Studio 2003 .NET.

To get started, I am converting an existing application that I built using
VS 6.0 C++ to C++ .NET.

My application uses a CRecordset-derived class to bind to columns in an
Excel spreadsheet.

I used VS 6.0 ClassWizard to create this class and bind the columns to class
variables. The spreadsheet has since changed and we want to change which
columns are bound.

This is easy to do with the VS 6 Class Wizard, but the Class Wizard is gone
from C++ .NET. I can see how to add a new CRecordset-derived class in C++
..NET, but I can't find any tool/wizard that will assist me in editing the
columns bound in an existing class.

TIA

yes, the VC7 doesn't provide the VC6 liked class wizard, some functions are
disappeared in the VC7, it maybe need some hard coding, please refer to the
following article:

Thanks for your understanding!

If I want to add a new derived class of the CRecordset type then it does not appear in the classes list, which I used to have before. The CDatabase class, for example, is available. Does anyone has any idea how this is possible? Of course I can make the class manually but I am too lazy for that.... Thanks for your replies! Mike

Hi, I've developed a class that derives from component (rather than a control), and am trying to license it at design time. I've set the license attributes etc. to my custom license provider: The problem is that my license provider never gets called at designtime. To prove this, I've put this code into the implementation

Hi, I am storing data in a custom format (binary files on disk). I read the data which is essentially a 2D table - similar to a Db table. My question is that, is it possible to create a CRecordset object using this data. I remember reading about "disconnected recordsets" a while back. I will like to be able to do this so that I can feed...

Hello everyone, I have created a custom component and one of its properties is a class object with it's own properties. During runtime, I can assign values to the class object properties just fine. However, when attempting to assing default values as designtime in the propertygrid, nothing is working on the class object. I know that I...

Hi all, I'm writing a little app that uses ODBC to call a SQL 2K stored procedure several times in a loop, with a different parameter each time. The SP can return no results in some instances. When no results are returned, the CRecordset throws an exception. I've tracked the problem down to dbcore.cpp, where the CRecordset::Open method...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
