Passing the standard icons to user defined ImageList

Hello people!

I have a quite complicated question.

While creating a ToolBar in code, it is possible to pass the standard icons located in COMMCTRL to the image list of the ToolBar. I'm talking about the icons that most of programs use, like:
STD_COPY, STD_CUT, STD_DELETE, STD_FILENEW, STD_FILEOPEN and so on.
This is very useful because you don't need to load these icons as resources anymore, because they exist already in system.

My problem is - how can I pass these icons to my own image list? As far as I know, they work only with ToolBars (see struct TBADDBITMAP). I want to have them in my own list in order to pass icons to other controls too, like menus for example.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you,

Dragos

Hello, I have an issue with images that appear and then seem to disappear depending on the compile and exectution sequence I use. I haven't been able to narrow down a repeateable sequnce. I suspect this is an initialization problem. I wonder if anyone else knows how to fix this? In my C# Form Load() method, I include the following (m_ToolBarImageList is defined as a instance ImageList):

I want to display in a form all the icons of an icon file, that has icons with both 32bit colordepth and 24bit colordepth, simultaneously. I tried using ImageLists with different colordepth properties but the result was that the icons that were displayed were all 32bit palleted, having my systems' pallete set to 32bits and the 24bit ones were displayed only when my systems' pallete was set to 16bit. Is there a way to display all the...

Hi all, I'm developing a win app in C# and I am drawing by myself the icons that I'm going to use in Corel Draw 11, then turn them to icons by using Axialis and then use them from an imagelist in my app for icons. I use Color.Transparent (imagelist transparent color) for the transparrent areas of the icon. The problem is that I get little white dots that don't belong to the picture of my icon (garbage) at the edges and especially if the...

Hi, I encounter a weird problem. I have a user control with a toolbar on it. And there is also an imagelist for this toolbar. This toolbar has few buttons. Everything's modifier is "protected". I extend this user control. In the child class, I add more buttons and more icons to toolbar and imagelist, respectively. I can see all icons for all

We are migrating a large app to .net. There are many forms and there will be many, many icons. What are some suggested techniques for more or less sharing imagelists (easy enough), BUT without giving up the design time experience. jeff

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
