icons shown in design mode, gone at runtime

Hi,

I encounter a weird problem.

I have a user control with a toolbar on it. And there is also an imagelist
for this toolbar. This toolbar has few buttons. Everything's modifier is
"protected" .

I extend this user control. In the child class, I add more buttons and more
icons to toolbar and imagelist, respectively. I can see all icons for all
buttons in design view in Visual studio 2003.

As soon as I run the application(Win dows forms application), all icons are
gone.

Can someone tell me how could this happen?

Thanks a lot!
Ryan

Hi all, I'm developing a win app in C# and I am drawing by myself the icons that I'm going to use in Corel Draw 11, then turn them to icons by using Axialis and then use them from an imagelist in my app for icons. I use Color.Transparent (imagelist transparent color) for the transparrent areas of the icon. The problem is that I get little white dots that don't belong to the picture of my icon (garbage) at the edges and especially if the...

Hi All, I am trying to get a 24x24 "Windows XP" icon to display correctly on a button in my toolbar. My icon has 8 layers (16x16, 16x16, 24x24, 24x24, 32x32, 32x32, 48x48, 48x48) with each size having a 256 and windows xp colored image. When my application runs, the icon with 256 colors appears rather than the xp icon. I have tried using a manifest as well as Application.EnableVisualStyles. No luck. I have seen numerous articles...

Hi folks. I'm currently in the midst of building an explorer - like viewer for a bigger project I'm going to be working on soon. When building the class for my Treeview and Listview controls, I'm using the ExtractIconEx API function (see code below). I found that all the icons windows uses are not necessarily in the Shell32.dll file, though. I did some digging, and found a few other places where Icon files are being pulled from to be...

Hi I want to use a lot of icons in panels in a status bar. The icons shall show the current status of operations and has to be changed programmatically. Is it possible to store the icons in the application in the same way as you store images in an image list? I prefer not get the icons from files.

Hi All, I'm using VS 2005 8.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200), with .NET framework 2.0. Everything was working fine, but now suddenly I don't see my ToolBox icons, whether you are in design mode or not, it's the same. Doing reset toolbox comes with all the icons, but they are all disabled except HTML controls. If you select "Choose Toolbox Items" then ".NET framework components" property tab comes with this error message - "An error occurred...

We are migrating a large app to .net. There are many forms and there will be many, many icons. What are some suggested techniques for more or less sharing imagelists (easy enough), BUT without giving up the design time experience. jeff

Is there such a thing as storing icons or bitmaps into a resource file, and adding more icons or bitmaps into the resource file at runtime? I want to store a bunch of icons into a resource file, and at runtime I want to be able to add more icons as I need to add. I don't want to use an imagelist because that will be a set number of icons in the program.

What would cause VS2005 Pro to lose all of my MdiForm Design information? I've been working on one of the Child Forms and having problems with the Child Form's threads not completing (locking up and not responding anymore). So, I shut down VS, turned off my PC, then turned everything back on. Now, my MdiForm Design looks like a blank form whenever a new form is added to a project. My Tray Icon, Status Bar strip, and Main Menu are all...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
