whats the industry standard libraries for scientific mathematical
programming? I did a few searchs and it seems Lapack and the Gnu
Scientific Libraries are the two big ones, but what else? Any good
link collections out there? Doesn't really matter what language
(since its going to be either c/c++/fortran, right?)

I am working on an application that requires working with numbers in
scientific notation. I am using SqlServer as the database and I have
created strongly typed data adapters and datasets. The numbers are
defined as numeric in the SqlServer Database and are bound to text
boxes in the app. In the dataset xml these numbers are defined as
decimal. I am using the binding method Format to display the data in
scientific notation and Parse to...

I don't know where to go, or what to buy, so plz re-direct me if I'm in the
wrong place.
I want to do high performance integration of partial differential eqns in n
dimensions (n=0,1,2,3..etc) I want to do (fast) graphic output of the results.
I used to use C. I want to upgrade my computer.
Do I get dual core? Does C# support dual-core? Is C# as fast as the old C?
Is there a new C? (or is C# the new version of C?) Is Visual Studio...

Someone asked me to write a brief essay regarding the value-add
proposition for Python in the Fortran community. Slightly modified to
remove a few climatology-related specifics, here it is.
I would welcome comments and corrections, and would be happy to
contribute some version of this to the Python website if it is of
interest.

I have updated some basic requirements for a generic mathematical
markup language for scientific requirements at the next link.
http://canonicalscience.blogspot.com/2006/04/scientific-language-canonml-is.html]
Some requirements fit into the XML model and could be considered for
debate for the future mathML specifications. Other requirements do not
fit and will be developed in alternative mathematical approaches to
those from the w3c...

Hi all,
I want to use the current need for a Levenberg-Marquardt least squares
fitting procedure
for my long term desire to dive into scientific libraries for python.
However, I am always
confused by the shear sheer variety of available packages and the fact
that some of them
(Numeric, Numarray) seem to be outdated.

Hi all,
Math is not my strongest area so forgive me if I use some of the wrong
terminology.
It seems that scientific notation is immune to rounding errors. For
example:
(4.98 * 100) + 5.51 // returns 503.51000000000005, rounding error!
4.98e2 + 5.51 // returns 503.51, correct!

Hi all,
I am new to c#.
I am facing a problem with exponential or scientific notification.
When I use math.pow() funciton, if the numbers are big, it returns me
in exponential format.
And when I do any arthimatic operations on that, it gives me wrong
results.
For example:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
