Hi,
As I been programming in C I have discovered more and more tools that
really helps to speed up the development process when writing
programs. Examples of such tools are cscope, cbrowser, tags, etc.
There are ofcourse many different levels of programmers, and the
beginners might only use emacs or vi to write their code. However,
since there are such great tools out there to help the programmer, I
am wondering which tools are...

Hi,
I've been looking for a good Trace message monitoring tool to monitor trace
messages (through System.Diagnostics.Trace.WriteLine() etc).
I need it to collect traces from non-EXE code (esp. WebParts).
Can anyone recommend a good tool for my purpose?
Many thanks in advance.

When I load a csharp program into the MS DbgCLR.exe debugger and trace it everything is fine the first time.
Assume now, I change somewhere a code statement in the source file (outside the Debug-IDE) without re-compiling it.
DbgCLR.exe recognizes that something has changed in the source file and pops up a warning dialog asking if
the new source should be used. If I click "yes" and re-start the debugging process from the beginning...

VS.NET 2003 defaults the "Debugger Type" property to "Auto" for Visual C++
projects. Unfortunately, the "Auto" type isn't very smart. "Auto" bases
the debugger type on the launched EXE's type, which may have nothing to do
with the C++ project I'm trying to debug.
I have a .NET EXE that hosts all of my DLLs, but a lot of the DLLs are old,
unmanaged C++ COM DLLs. Now everytime I debug one of them, I have to
remember to change the...

I'm debugging some JavaScript.
In Firefox I can use dump(msg) to print a message on their JS console
(see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Viewing_dump()_output). Likewise, Opera
has the opera.postError(msg) method.
Is there an equivalent in Internet Explorer that will work with Visual
Studio 2003 when using the JS debugger? I know how to set breakpoints,
display variables, etc.

Hi,
I am experiencing a strange problem. I am reading and writing xml files via
XmlDocument and XmlTextWriter. In the debugger everything works fine but
outside the debugger (debug or release) I receive the following error: "The
type initializer for "System.Xml.Schema.Validator" threw an exception."
I wrote a small console app that contains the problem -- I've just attached
the default class which gets run. Output outside the...

hi
is there something like an automatic debugger module available in
python? Say if i enable this auto debugger, it is able to run thru the
whole python program, print variable values at each point, or print
calls to functions..etc...just like the pdb module, but now it's
automatic.
thanks

I use Ubuntu 7.04 and have trouble finding a good editor that has
autocompletion (when typing std:: or using "." on strings or pressing
ctrl+space).
I have tried eclipse with CDT 3.1.2 but it takes about a minute before
the popup box appears. I have also tried KDevelop and anjuta but they
only autocomplete previous declared variables. I would like to avoid
using emacs because of the wierd keymap.
Are there any alternatives left or...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
