I discovered a strange bug(?) in a .Net Studio solution.
I have a solution with about 10 projects inside it. Many of these projects
reference other projects in the solution. So far, so good.
After making some changes, trying to track down a bug, I noticed that my
changes didn't seem to be making it into the application. I finally tracked
it down and noticed that if I added the project reference in Debug mode,
when I changed to...

I have been trying to use the new Visual C++ Toolkit 2003 with the VC6 IDE
I set up the executable, inlcude, and library directories to point to the new compilers
I had to fix a few errors in the MFC6 <afxtempl.h> to get it to compile with the better standards confomance (mainly omitted typename, and lazyness with specialized templates - using BASE_CLASS & TYPE instead of CObList & CObList*)
Now I get some strange linker errors, and I don't...

I'm using Visual Studio 2005 RC and cannot figure out how to produce a
"release" build. Am I doing something wrong?
I'm wondering if perhaps MS locked out the ability to produce a release
build when using the RC since it does not have a go-live license? Or maybe
I'm just doing something wrong.
I do not want to go live with a release build. Rather I just want to test
locally to see if there is a performance difference and also to...

I have an old version of VS 2002 and want to make a copy of my Visual Studio
project to another project with another name. In VS 2003, you can do it but
there is no copy project command in VS 2002 (at least I can't seem to find
it).
Is there a way to do it?
Thanks,
Tom

Hi Folks
Hopefully a simple question...
Using Visual Studio 2005, what is the easiest way to create a setup for
my Windows Forms App that can copy a large number of required PDF files
to the installation directory when the setup is executed.
I have tried manually adding the PDFs to the Setup Project but it then
takes absolutely ages to build.

I am having trouble getting debug and release builds to work properly
with project references using C++ .NET and Visual Studio 2003.
I created a test solution, with a basic Windows form C++ project.
I then add a class library, and add a reference to this project in the
first project.
When I do a release build, I see the following in the output from the
DLL compile:
/OUT:"C:\Documents and Settings\Andrew\My Documents\Visual Studio

Hi
I have a solution with 50 projects. They are all compiled in DEBUG mode and
the output path has been modified to a custom directory
I now want to build RELEASE mode and the Output Path needs to be reset for
all the project to the custom directory
Is there an easy way to do this besides opening 50 projects???

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
