What is the best way to calculate an ascii string into an integer (not
talking about an atoi conversion):
For examle if I have the ascii string: "/b" then in hex it would be
2F7A and if I convert that to decimal I would get 12154.
I can't figure out how to concatenate? my hex values together if that
makes any sense?
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

hi!
I have the following problem. I need to read data from a TXT file our
company receives.
I would use StreamReader, and process it line by line using ReadLine,
however, the following problem occurs.
The file contains characters with ASCII codes above 128. But the file is
still text (nothing like UTF7/8 or the like). It also might contain + signs.
As a result:

I have not been able to find a simple, straight forward Unicode to ASCII
string conversion function in VB.Net.
Is that because such a function does not exists or do I overlook it?
I found Encoding.Convert, but that needs byte arrays.
Thanks,
/Ger

My Friends:
I am using std::ofstream (as well as ifstream), I hope that when i
wrote in some std::string(...) with locale, ofstream can convert to
UTF-8 encoding and save file to disk. So does ifstream.
Something I found shows that, I need to have a proper codecvt to set
it. I need more information, maybe a small piece of code sample. Thank
you!

Hi.
I want to know the size of a file (prior to FTP) in ASCII Mode.
The reason is that I want to know how bit the file is going to
be once it reaches the FTP server and there is a size difference
between binary and ascii mode (100 or so bytes).
So, how do I get the size of the file in ASCII Mode using the
usual VB.NET API?

Hello,
For work, I need to write a password filter. The problem is that my C+
+ experience is only some practice in school, 10 years ago. I now
develop in C# which is completely different to me.
But, the password filter needs to be built, so I'm doing my best.
First of all, I am creating an xml string that contains both username
and password, and then I want to write the ascii values for all
characters to a textfile. By using the...

I am trying to write a function which will convert a large ascii
number, say 100 ascii digits, to its binary representation. It seems
that evey algorithm I am trying to think of is backwards. Normaly in
pen and paper ascii to binary conversion one would start by
subtracting largest power of 2 that can be subtracted from the given
number and work from left to right filling memory up with 1s and 0s.
In my case I cant really do that b/c the...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
