Detect virtual machine presence

Hello,

Can anyone give me an idea of what classes/interfaces I could use when I
want to detect the presence of a virtual machine (VMware, Virtual PC) on a
user's system ? Both managed and unmanaged classes are ok (no MFC). I'm
familiar with WMI as well. It needs only to work on Windows XP operating
systems.

Thanks !

Hi Folks! Everytime I work with virtual and pure virtual methods I ask myself if there is a difference between class B and class C (see below). Is it redundant to repeat the virtual keyword in a derived class? Or is there any difference I need to consider? I have seen both ways when I read source code from external sources. So far I didn't find any answers in my books or on the net. class A {

I know how to detect .NET Framework, and I know how to re-register ASP.NET. But is there any way to detect that ASP.NET is not registered with IIS? I want my installation program to treat this case better than just failing to install. I am using VS.NET Deployment project. Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I'm trying to write a C# application that gets information from a machine such as operating system, memory, cpu etc. I'm using WMI for this, and it all seems to work fine apart from the fact that Win32_PhysicalMemory doesn't have any instances. I have therefore come to the conclusion that I need to try and access the memory information using the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) information on the EEPROM on the memory stick(s)....

Hello Pythonists, I'd like to write for myself a tiny program that counts time spent on each virtual desktop (in GNOME). In order to do that, I need my program to detect the current virtual desktop. I've googled for it for about one hour and couldn't find any solution. The closest thing I found is set of tutorials: http://www.pygtk.org/articles.html Unfortunately, none of them answers my questions: How to detect current virtual...

I have a base class, PadRcv, with virtual functions. User code will derive from this class and possibly supply it's own functions to override the base class virtual functions. How can I test that a user-defined class has overriden the virtual function in the base class? I have code like this which compiles with gcc 2.95.4: Attrib Implicits(PadRcv *obj){ Attrib accum = 0;

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
