Hi
I would like to retrieve the application data directory path of the
logged user on
windows XP. To achieve this goal i use the environment variable
APPDATA.
The logged user has this name: sbastien. The second character is not an
ascii one and when i try to encode the path that contains this name in
utf-8,

various encoding problems with Unicode (that aren't
a problem for me with GB2312, BIG 5, etc.)
What I'd like is something as simple as:

The PEP has been rewritten based on a suggestion by Guido to change
str() rather than adding a new built-in function. Based on my
testing, I believe the idea is feasible. It would be helpful if
people could test the patched Python with their own applications and
report any incompatibilities.

I am having a problem displaying Unicode characters on my Forms labels and
buttons. After coding Button1.Text = unicode; where the unicode is a Unicode
character or string (‘\u1234’ or “\u1234”) It seems to work the first time I
set the button to the Unicode character. After a while, when saving my code,
I get a pop-up window stating that I need to save the file as a Unicode else
my changes will not be saved.

I have a CStdioFile object called finput, and it is used to read in data from a file and do stuff to that data.
After this has been done, I want to use the same object to read the same data (which has been modified). But at that point, it would have already reached the end of file, so it won't read anything.
How can you reset CStdioFile to start from the beginning again?
