Saving Form Size, Position, etc.

Hi,

I am new to .net programming but am used to Borland C++ Builder (like Delphi). There are third party components available that you drop on a form and it will save the forms size, position, etc. when you exit. As a matter of fact, you can save all the properties of the form and it's controls (colors, text, checkbox states, etc.). Anyway, is there a way to do this in .net or any components that will do it for you?

Thanks,
Joe

Hi, User can adjust the size of columns of a table or the position of splitter in UI. We want these adjustments to be remembered when we restart the application. Currently, we are saving these adjustments by the user in an XML and saving that XML. We read the XML upon restart and make calls to set the adjustments. This approach becomes difficult as we add more controls and more settings can be made by the user. What other techniques can...

Hello. I'm developing Windows.Forms based applications, and each will need per-user persistent data consisting of user preferences, last form size/position, and the like. Is there a standard or recommended approach to this? I'm aware that such data is often stored in an appropriate HKCU\Software subkey and/or Application Data subfolder. What I haven't figured out yet is if there is some convenient ..Net component or mechanism which...

Hi, I build a web form with a 4-cell table on the top (flawlayout), followed by some labels and textboxes (gridlayout). The web form is displayed well in dell m60 laptop with all resolution options and DPI options. However when I tried to run it in a dell P3 desktop, labels and textboxes overlapped each other and they were in table area too. Any suggestions? Do I have to put all controls in table cells?

I'm teaching myself PHP with limited success. I'm using PHP5 and dreamweaver. I have a basic drop down menu on a form. If the user forgets to enter some data I send him back to the form. What I need help with is how to show what was selected the first time so that he doesn't have to reenter all data just the missing stuff. I'm really new at this and could use some direction. Thanks

Is there an automatic way to tell a windows to save its size and position, or do I have to save these parameters to the registry when the form quits and then reload them next time?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
