Notification is something that your application receives/gets when events
are fired. You may choose to detect only certain notifications. For example,
if you are monitoring a folder, you can choose to ask the system to notify
your application when user add/delete files in the folder. You register the
event that you want to receive and specify a handler that will handle it
when the event occured.

Another typical example, your windows default handler (WindowProc) receives
notification when user pressed a key. In this case you receive a window
message WM_KEYDOWN.

Message is command that instructs what your application should do. You may
send a message (exm: WM_HIDE) to your dialog box to request it to hide
itself. Or you may send message to your service control manager to request
it to stop the service.

Regards,
KC

Help. I need to create a simple database that tracks equipment arrivals (and departures) at my facility. What I want is to create a simple form, which the receptionist could fill out, every time someone delivers something at the front door. The form would simply have a place to put the time/date, delivery method, addressee, and a brief description. Once the receptionist filled it out and hit enter it would create a new record and then...

In my code, class A instanciates classes B and C. I would like class B to connect an event handler to a method in class A, and for class C to disconnect that event handler. I think I've done too much thinking, and now I'm even more confused as to how to accomplish this as when I started. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi all, I have a native class which has a single instance controlled via the singleton pattern. I need to call this from both native C++ and from mixed mode visual studio 2005 c++ CLI. At the moment I have a MC++ unit test project which accesses the singleton. What I seem to be finding is that the singleton accessed directly from the unit test project is not the same instance as the singleton accessed from native code.

Suppose: A TextBox is bound to a BindingSource, which is bound to a DataTable A BindingNavigator is used to alter the current row being looked at by the BindingSource (i.e. Nav's NEXT button is pressed. BS.Position changes from 2 to 3, Textbox was showing APPLE, now shows ORANGE) Does the textbox receive any notification that this occurred? If so, what?

I need some help trying to figure out why the code below does not work. I'm trying to cycle through the icons in the notification area and get button information. Everything runs fine, but my TBUTTONINFO struct does not get populated. iIndex:False is further evidence that things aren't working, and I think I'm not setting the dwMask correctly. Thanks!!

I will be developping a planning application for wich it's necessary for multiple users to view and edit the same data, all changes made by one user, must be visible to the other user's more or less immediately (on their pc). So I'm looking for a mechanism with wich I can notify the 'other' applications on the network of any changes so they can update their 'view' if necessary. Although I think I'm capable of solving this problem by...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
