best language to integrate with Win API

BFM
Hello,

I'm just beginning a project, and looking through much documentation,
and trying to figure out the best platform to develop the core of my project
in/on.

The project will consist of a server/client relationship, with both the
server and client needing access to much of the Windows API. It will need
to integrate with Outlook, and probably access to other selected Window
programs.

I'm much more familiar with straight ol' Java, but, what would be the
best solution dealing within a .NET framework? I'd like to develop a
cross-platform version of what I'm looking at, so should I pursue
researching J#.NET? Is there one language within the .NET set that
integrates better with the Window API?

Ahh, the questions of a newbie.

Thanks for all help and suggestions!

Ryan

Hi all. I'm working here on a small project of mine. I'm not new to programming, but I'm new to PHP. You have to understand that I'm coming from C++, OOP world, so my code might seems a little too "object"-ified. Anyways, I've created a wrapper class for MySQL connectivity. It's barebones for now, no error checking or anything. So now I'm trying to create user/session-handling class that would work with the data stored in the database...

Hi Everyone, From the documentations, it did mention that python is a good glue language. What does it really means by "glue language"? Does it means interfacing between modules of different languages? How does that work? Because it seems that only C is mentioned in the documentations and I'm not quite interested to program in C unless absolutely essential. Thanks Maurice

The Main Issue in a nutshell I am a corporate developer, working for a single company. Got a new project coming up and wondering if I should stay with Python for this new, fairly large project, are jump back on the 'safe' M$ bandwagon using a dot net language? Cross platform is NOT an issue, but COMPLETE control/compatability with MsSql Server (current and future versions) certainly is. Quick History

Dear All, I have an Access database that tracks the progress of income tax audits. When the taxing authorities make a change (an "Adjustment"), I record the pertinent information in the database. At the end of the audit cycle, these adjustments are used to compute the revised taxes due. This computation is done in a fairly complex, but accurate and easy to use, spreadsheet. In the spreadsheet, there is a sheet that lists out all...

Antti & all interested, The draft description of my language to replace C is available at: http://nahas.is-a-geek.com/~mike/MyC.pdf I am a long time C programmer (I read the old testament in 1987) and I've tried to keep the spirit of C and make as few changes as possible. I was mostly driven by the bloat of C++ and, now, C99. I was also

Basically, I've a JS function called ValidateForm(), which returns true or false and controls if the form submits. When I integrate this with .NET validators, the .NET always adds it's own call to a function to the end of the form onSubmit script. So if my function returns false, .NETs function is still called and when it returns true will basically render my code pointless. I'm not entirely sure of the best way to integrate custom

PHP, and to a lesser degree JSF has become very popular ways to build web applications. What I don't understand, and what I would like you all to comment on, is how these methods are the best way to build web applications. I come from the traditional Struts/JAVA world and the traditional MVC archetecture. It seems to me, and I could be wrong, that PHP and JSF seem to be pulling more business and data layer code up to the View Layer. I don't...

There is an article on oreilly.net's OnLamp site called "The World's Most Maintainable Programming Language" (http://www.oreillynet.com/onlamp/blog/2006/03/the_worlds_most_maintainable_p.html). It's not about a specific language, but about the qualities that would make up the title language (learnability, consistency, simplicity, power, enforcing good programming practices). I thought this might be of interest to some of you, and I...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
