Hello,
I need a way to get a notification whenever a variable of an object
changes. The approach should be non-intrusive so that I can use
existing objects without modifying them.
I want to be notified no matter who or what did change the wrapped
object - even whenever an object internal methods changes the
variables.
So I coded the piece of code shown below (just copy and paste it, it's
ready-to-run).

Hi,
I am trying to call a function in my web page, asynchronously, to improve
performance. I am using a function delegate to do that. I have a web page.
When the user clicks a button, i want to execute this function
asynchronously and in the meantime move on to other tasks. At the very end,
i call EndInvoke. Problem is if i disrupt this process by closing the
browser Visual Studio "freezes" and won't become active until after some
time....

What are the consequences of not calling EndInvoke on an Asynconis Delegate?
Does Controls BeginInvoke also REQUIRE a call to EndInvoke? Being that its
running on the main thread anyway?
Thanks

Hi,
I am learning to code a WinForm application which will need to access a Web
Service outside the University network. Our University require us to go
through a proxy in order to access the Internet. In addition, the proxy
require us to authenticated before allow us to go through it.
I have coded something like below (without changing anything other things):
WebProxy proxyObject = new WebProxy("proxy.myUni.edu.au", 8080); //

Hello,
I am experimenting with async callbacks using BeginInvoke and EndInvoke, and
although my code which I have shown below works, when the program stops at
the end (on the ReadLine()), there are still 2 threads running if i pause
the execution, even if I kow that EndInvoke has been called on the thread.
This also happens in the async callback sample on msdn. Is this anything I
need to wory about, because it doesn't seen too good to...

I've been working on some samples that use BeginInvoke/EndInvoke. In one
example, I call BeginInvoke and pass it an AsyncCallback function pointer.
I was messing around with ReaderWriterLocks and noticed that if I did this,
it worked (please ignore the lack of try ... catch blocks, because I cut
down the code to be more brief - I have a try...catch surround the
AcquireWriterLock method):
----------
myLock.AcquireWriterLock(1000);...

Hi!
In <MPG.1b660df23c2f8b6498af23@msnews.microsoft.com> Jon Skeet said that he _believes_ that for UI calls the WinForms team has
_basically_ guaranteed that EndInvoke is not required after
BeginInvoke.
In my applications I only want to update some controls from other
threads most of the time and absolutly don't care about the result
(actually there is no result when I only want textBox.Text = "text").

Hello,
I assigned a new object to a local variable ("req") in a function (see
below). The local variable "req" is obviously destroyed when the
function exits, but should the object referenced by the variable live
on?
It seems that it does (and I want it to), but is this correct? I
thought that local variables (and objects) are destroyed when the
function exits? I declared a callback function--function () {

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
